Today I had a horse show at Wind River which is about 45 minutes away right on the outside of Pinedale. I did good and placed in three out of my four events. I won roping with Trigger which surprised me because usually he gets easily distracted. Trigger is two years old and since he is still so young his attention span is about two seconds. I still use him for roping because of one, the breed he is, two, his alertness, three, his speed that never seems to end, and four because he is still young and growing and so he is not as likely to get hurt. He's not always the best decision though because this is his first year, so I don't know him as well, and he hasn't gone to many big shows like this. I got second in obstacles with Buttercup and fifth with Rascal in barrels. We have raised Rascal since he was born, he knows his way around the farm pretty well so he is always getting in trouble but he is still my baby and my favorite of the stallions. I didn't place in grounds with Buttercup and I think part of the problem was something she did to her back right leg during the obstacles. Grounds is a mile competition where horses run on pavement and gravel, through thick mud and tall grasses, and over rough terrain. After all my events were over I went out to see my grandparents and other family members that had come. Amid everyone was Cal. She had skipped football practice this morning and I felt bad knowing that she had skipped practice to come and watch me especially with all the practices she had already missed. She assured me right away that her coming was okay and needed a break anyway.
