I was surprised by Cal's actions these past few days. Yesterday she skipped all her morning classes, was super happy and anxious before the game, and then blacked out while throwing the winning pass. She was at school today and seemed just fine. We were going to talk to Cal today about maybe going to a college football game on the 29 for her birthday which was actually on October first but we would leave as soon as she got out of practice Saturday and be back sometime Sunday afternoon. Hannah's mom had already said that she would be willing to take us, so now we just needed her approval and tickets. Within two minutes some snooty girls came over asking Cal if the rumor was true that she and Kyle were officially dating. She admitted and wished the girls on their way. After that many other people came over and asked the same question. Cal looked confused but us other three girls knew exactly what they were talking about. Yesterday when Cal blacked out as soon as Kyle made the touchdown he immediately ran over to Cal and walked off the field too when they wheeled her out on the stretcher. By the time lunch was over and it was time for our afternoon classes I bet at least 30 kids had come over and asked us the same question. The afternoon sped by quickly and soon I was heading home for supper. All I had been able to think about since lunch was that Cal was already dating and was starting her first real relationship. That was supposed to be me. I was the one who worked hardest when it came to sports and my parents owned one of the biggest businesses in town. We were considered higher-class for our small town. I could just about get any guy I wanted in my grade and she had already beat me to the hottest sophomore. I needed someone fast and I had the perfect person in mind.
