"Eren Jaeger, are you ready? Control of the vertical maneuvering gear is the bare minimum required to be a soldier. If you can't do that, you're going back to the settlement.
Understand?" Shadis asked Eren.

Today is the day Eren will have to prove himself to everyone that he can pass this posture-control training.
I feel nervous for him. I've been quiet since this morning thinking about this. I even prayed for him to pass so he won't go back to the settlement and will stay here until we are finally graduates.

Eren cannot fail. He dreamed to be a soldier and now we're here to train to become one. So he cannot fail. If he fails, then I'll drop out and go back to the settlement with him.

I can't leave my brother alone.

"Yes, sir!"

I came back to my senses when Eren answered Shadis. I feel like my heart stopped when Thomas started lifting him up. My eyes widened when he was able to stay up.

"Ooh!!"

I was about to smile but then Eren fell hitting his head in the ground again!
I gasped and was about to ran to him but Reiner hold me back.

"Y/N. You know you can't." He said and sighed.

I shut my eyes and massaged my temples. Damn it...He failed! Oh my walls.. The deal I made with the shit cadets! I looked around and saw the shit group looking at me with their arrogant ugly faces. It was as if they're telling me to ready myself because they will beat me to death.

As if I'm gonna let that happen!

"Get him down." Shadis said.

"W-wait! N-not yet! I can..." Eren pleaded. I looked at him with worried eyes.

"Bring him down, now!" Shadis said and Thomas helped Eren up. Eren sat on the ground looking miserable. Tears started to form in my eyes.

Eren, it's okay...We can just go back to the settlement and maybe enlist again.

"Where's Jaeger number 2?" Shadis asked. Everyone looked at me. I felt awkward because I was silently crying.

What the fuck? This is embarrassing.

Shadis looked at me and raised his brows. "The hell you crying for?" He asked. I sighed and shook my head.

"I-uhm...I got dust on my eyes, sir." I said and I bet everyone didn't buy ny excuse.

Shadis frowned. "Trade belts with your brother." He said and I was surprised.

"W-wha?" I looked at Eren and he's looking at us with a confused look. My eyes widened when I remembered my past thoughts that maybe his equipment is the problem. "Yes, sir!"
I immediately trade belts with Eren.

"Hey you, bro. Goodluck!" I said and smiled at him.

He nod his head. "Yeah. Thanks."

Thomas started lifting Eren up.
I smiled widely when he successfully stayed in balance. "He did it."
I whispered to myself.

Oh my walls! Eren did it!

"I don't understand." Eren said.

"Defective equipment. The metal fitting in the belt you were using was broken. Normally, you're suspended from the waist, so even if you flip over, you shouldn't be able to hit your head on the ground."

I was right! His equipment is broken! Oh. I'm so smart!

"Huh? I've never heard of one of these breaking before."
