There wasn't a person in view of the boy that couldn't see that he was as red as an apple.
The boy rubbed his forehead, watching the back of the girl he admired dreamily. He always was smitten with the Princess now Empress the Late Empress held many banquets, the children of the holy orphanage attended each banquet that was held. The Boy seen the Princess the first time when she was 5 and he was 4.He saw the way she held herself with elegance. Though she was a child it was obvious the girl never played, she hid behind the Empress whenever any kid her age looked at her, at first he pitted her because of her blindness not knowing that it ran in the royal family, nor that a disability was not something to be ashamed of or pity someone for.
Then he actually met her, on her 6th birthday, she was sitting in the holy orphanage observing the children running around. She a blindfold around her eyes and a white and black dress with hair pins keeping her coils at bay.
"How are you today? She said to the boy right after he sat on the bench next to hers. "I'm doing fine, how are you?" She was silent, "I'm ok," she said breaking the 15 second silence.
He could tell something was off with the girl, it was an obvious lie, he smiled grasping her hand, and pulling the girl up. "Let's go play!" he said cheerfully that day he played with her until neither of them could anymore, she didn't know what playing was but got the point of it pretty quickly, it was like life had rejoined the girl in a waltz, she spun and laughed as they chased each other around the castle grounds, getting messier and messier.
The next day she was just as bored and dull as she had been the day before when he had seen her. Soon after the Empress fell sick and the Princess had all the responsibilities of the empire on her shoulder, as the last remaining blood of the Royal family. The priests burdened the girl with work and responsibilities, and she took it all and accomplished it. She did whatever it took to secure the future of the empire, and though he hated the method, Emil couldn't help but admire the Princess for it.
He had watched the Princess grow and bloom from the shadows for 4 years learning as much as she did to hope that maybe some day she would accept him. He would gladly take any position she gave him, Emil just wanted to be of use to the future Monarch... no he wanted more. He wanted to see her smile more than anything.
