She never expected his words to hurt her so much, it's like a thousand knives just pierced right through her heart. She looks at him and can tell he regrets every word he said, but they both know his words are the truth. Even if they want to deny them and fight about them, in the end they are still true.

"Please, just stop talking."

She's pleading to him, begging him, but to no avail.

Will moves his hand, but Alyss cannot find the mental strength to look at the movement. Instead, she breathes in. Deeply. Her heart is aching.

"Please, don't say another word."

A moment of silence. Then, their eyes meet. Will's mouth moves, but it takes a while for Alyss to register what he said.

"Checkmate."
