Chapter 9: The War

I woke up while the timer had just started, I got up and changed into the red suit brushing my hair and putting the mask on. We all left our rooms for head count, I looked around and saw Eugene standing next to me.

"Morning workers! Today's game will be tug of war, please head to your stations"

I walked to the players room watching them line up like they always did for a game, I knew what tug of war was but never saw the set up. We led the players to the door and went into a white room, I was confused but then realised tug of war is teams.

"I will now announce the rules of this game, please get into a team of 4, you have 20 minutes, starting now"

I looked around at people getting into teams, I was scared to be honest, tug of war is a violent game. By the looks of it, if you lose, you die. I have noticed a jerk in these games who keeps deciding to battle people, once everyone got into teams the guy was in team 3.

"Welcome players to Tug Of War, you will be locked into a rope and you must pull the other team, once the other team falls they are eliminated and you win"

I got given a envelope and knew I had to tell which team was first, so I did.

"The two teams going against each other are..number 4."

I watched them get up and noticed the men where smirking since I had a female voice of course.

"And team number 1"

They all got up and went to the towers, I watched them play and after a while team 1 had lost. My heart sank again, I looked over at Eugene and he looked back. We both watched the game end and the rope was cut leaving team 1 to fall to there death.

I read out the rest of the teams and the last two teams standing was 4 and 2, they where sent back to the room to eat. Once they had eaten they had 20 minutes until lights out so I left to get to my room.

I got in my room and took everything off, I was still traumatised, Eugene walked in taking off his mask and started kissing me. We carried on for ages until he had to go for lights out, I had my food and got into bed.

"Well done workers for another great day! Enjoy your sleep"

The lights turned off and as I fell asleep, the one thing running in my mind was do I get any money?.
