Warm and soothing. It's no wonder he's the mom friend of the group with how amazing his hugs are. Though he might be awkward it ceases with time, as you two become more comfortable around each other. As to how he'd hug you - he'd put his arms around you, running his hand up and down your back, trying to mimic his aunt. I don't see him as being too tall so he'd probably lay his head on your shoulder

His hugs are always tight and brief. Putting his arm around your shoulders is much more preferred here. Regular hugs are much more common as a greeting to him so they don't emanate the same comfort and warmth. He's just casual about them, throwing his arms around your neck. Much more often he's seen with a hand around your shoulders and later on, when you two get older - waist

Awkward and light. Every time you're hugging him it's clear he doesn't know what to do with his arms or limbs in general. Don't get me wrong, hugging him is not unpleasant, he just doesn't know how to navigate the situation well. In the book, he's described as notably short so he'd most likely have to stand on his toes to provide any comfort for either of you, lightly putting his arms around your waist or on your back

It's no surprise that two words I can use to describe his hugs are 'stiff' and 'formal'. It's not a bad feeling to be hugged by him, he's quite tall and warm, but it's very clear you're hugging someone with little to no experience in the field of physical contact. He controls himself to a great degree too, but in the rare instances when he lets loose (like after a successful hunt) he's much more natural and sincere

Brief and tight. Like I mentioned before, he's not big on physical contact in general so when the rare instances come, he's not drawing them out. He just pulls you close, putting his arms around your torso and giving you a short squeeze. That type if affection is ever really initiated when he's very worried about you or something very wrong had happened

He also mostly indulges in side hugs rather than regular ones, putting his arm around your back or, when you get older, waist. His hugs feel very sincere and sweet, sometimes playful. Sometimes he'd also cheekily pull the fake-yawn thing, though he's fully aware he's not fooling anyone and does that more so to make you laugh
