Ava stood there frozen in front of the mirror while washing her hands
Replaying the moment of the encounter with Ms. Jolie.
Ava turned off the sink and walked back to the dining room. She saw Kyle but she wanted to see Ms Jolie. She averted her eyes to the older woman who was already staring at her.
Ava suddenly became nervous and walked over to sit down.
"What took you so long?" Kyle asked
"Oh I was uh-"
"She needed some help" Ms Jolie interrupted
"Help?" Kyle raised his eyebrows
"It was her time of the month...and she didn't have any feminine products" Ms Jolie says nodding signaling to nod back and I nodded looking at Kyle and her
"Ew oh okay then" Kyle sighs
The food arrived soon. We had steak with a side of veggies and mash potatoes. It looks delicious.
"Thank you" I said to the person who gave it to me
"Why do you want to say thank you? They wanted this job" Kyle laughed
That didn't make any sense
"Because I'm respectful and I have manners" I said
Unlike someone...
We began eating and it got quiet. It wasn't really awkward nor comfortable. Everyone was busy eating, but at the same time we're all looking down at our plates.
"So Ava, what do you do for a living?" Cate said
"I'm still a graduate student. It's my last year though so I'm expecting to graduate soon" I said and Cate sipped her wine
"What are you studying?"
"Finance ma'am" I responded and I heard her chuckle
"Finance? You can't even do anything in that field. All you guys do is count money" Cate and Kyle laughed
"You see, major somewhere that can get you a job. That's why we're successful. Me and Angelina over here are rich because we own companies." Cate said
"I agree. Babe all you do is economics and social skills to create financial plans" Kyle said
Deep down I wanted to defend myself...
But since this is my first time meeting them I'll try to act nice
I look down to my lap and sigh
I started to play with the vegetable to act like I'm occupied
"What your parents do?" Cate abruptly said and I stoped playing with my vegetables
"They're uh...they were working at Walmart." said Ava
"Oh like they own that place?" Cate said and I shake my head
"They were cashiers" I said
"Were? What do you mean by that?"
"They died 2 years ago. From a car accident" I said
It got quiet now and I tried to finish my food but I couldn't
Suddenly Kyle got a phone call and step out to take it.
Later he came back
"I'm sorry babe but I have to go it's important" He said and quickly dashed off
"I'm going for a smoke" Ms Jolie said and walk off somewhere
I felt like crying so I stood up and walked somewhere. I didn't know where I was going I just needed to go outside for some air
I started to run because I felt tears already running down my cheeks. I was outside and squat down on the floor and cried.
I miss them...
I calmed down a bit and look around where I'm at. I saw a pool. Fairy lights around with chairs looking like they cost thousands of dollars around here.
Ava wiped her tears
"Are you done crying?"
Ava froze
She turned around and saw Ms Jolie sitting on a chair legs crossed with a cigarette
How did I run pass her?
"I'm fine" I wiped my tears
"What are you even doing here?"
"I live here?" Angelina said
"Didn't even say thank you. I saved you back there how rude" She said laughing
"Oh right- thank you"
"Nope too late" She smiled and I laughed
Angelina didn't know what was going on. She was just sitting with a cigarette and then all of the sudden the younger girl ran pass her and started to cry.
She wanted to help her but at the same time, this doesn't sound like an Angelina thing to do.
So when the younger girl notices
She wanted to make her laugh
And when she saw her smile
Gosh it was beautiful
"I'm assuming the diner is over" Angelina said
Ava nodded and pulled out her phone to order an Uber
"What are you doing?" Angelina became curious "Ordering an Uber" Ava said
"Let me drive"
Angelina didn't know what came to her. Why did she want to drive this girl she just met?
"Um okay"
"Let's go then" Angelina said standing up walking over to the younger girl that was still squatting
She stood in front of her and hold her hand out
"Let's go for an adventure"
