Peter and Ego headed out so that they could talk more about it in private. Gamora and I are still in the castle, while Drax and Mantis are outside. Gamora is messing with the transmitter we're using to contact Rocket. "Is he still not responding?" I ask her. "Something must be wrong," she says. "Or, maybe, this planet and this type of technology don't mix," I suggest.

We really don't know anything about this planet, and I don't feel good about it. In fact, the back of my mind is screaming for me to get out of here. And the back of my mind is usually right... but I don't know how Peter would feel about it after spending time with his dad for a while.

Gamora seems to pick up on my hesitance. "What do you mean?" "That ship, I've never seen anything like it. So... maybe it just won't work here. Or maybe you need to get a better signal," I tell her. She pauses, then places the device in her pocket. "Something just doesn't feel right," she murmurs. "Rocket's probably fine. He's been in a mood all day," I assure her.
"No. This place doesn't feel right," she tells me. "Do you feel it? You're usually good at feeling things like this."

I don't want to tell her what I'm feeling...

I must've made a face or something because she says, "So, you do feel it." "I mean, it's just that we don't really know this guy. That's all there is to it, really," I defend. "You know what? If we can't get a hold of Rocket, we'll leave the next morning. I have a bad feeling about this place, and so do you," she says, walking away.
"Gamora! We can't just leave without Peter," I exclaim, crossing my arms. "Then you convince him to come with us," she tells me.

She opens the outside door and sees Drax and Mantis sitting side-by-side. They're both looking at each other, and Drax looks like he is about to listen to something. "What's going on?" Gamora asks.
"This gross bug lady is my new friend," Drax says. "I'm learning new things like I'm a pet and ugly," she beams. "You're not ugly," I tell her. "Drax, you called her ugly?" "What are you talking about?" Drax says, motioning toward her face.

She's not ugly. She looks mostly normal aside from her big black eyes and antennae.
"Mantis..." Gamora interjects. "Can you show us where we'll be staying?" She stands up and begins to lead the way. "If you will follow me, I can lead you to your quarters." The three of us follow her as she leads us through the beautiful yet ominous planet.

"Why are there no other beings on this planet?" Gamora questions. Now that she mentions it, it is strange that there are no other living things besides Ego and Mantis and those of us who were invited here. "The planet is Ego," Mantis explains. "A dog would not invite a flea to live on his back." "And you're not a flea?" Gamora adds. "I'm a flea with a purpose," Mantis tells her. "I help him sleep." "Why do you even have extra sleeping quarters if that's the case?" I chime in. She freezes. Then she keeps walking as if to pretend the question wasn't even asked. I keep going, however. "Other beings are supposed to live on planets. Why is it just you who lives here, and not other 'fleas with a purpose'?" She looks down for a moment. "Because..." She pauses as if to rethink what she was going to say. "Because there is only need for one of me. I'm the only one who can make Ego sleep."

Gamora walks in front of her and stops to face her. "What were you about to say to Drax before we walked out?" Mantis nervously looks to Gamora, then Drax, then me, and back to Gamora. "Nothing," she says, awfully suspiciously. She continues walking forward. "Your quarters are this way." Gamora looks extremely suspicious of her. She gives me a knowing glance.

Something is definitely wrong with this place.

----

I lean over the balcony of my sleeping quarters. It's like a very fancy space hotel room. Still, it does shake away my feeling of uneasiness.
The sun is setting. It's beautiful... Too beautiful. Almost too perfect to be real. The light is gently peeking through the mountain-like formations. Gamora's right, but I don't know how I'm gonna tell him.
