I busted through the door of my house and quickly closed it behind me. Dad got up from the couch, concerned. I was clearly in a bad state. My breathing was heavy, and tears were streaming down my face. "Y/N. Are you okay?!" I shook my head and ran to him. I hugged him as tight as I could and sobbed into his chest.
He rubbed my back as I let it all out. I pulled away and explained everything that happened at the park. The boy, what he did to me, and what I did to him. I was almost out of breath by the time I finished. "I'm sorry, Dad!" I cried. "I'm so sorry! I should've listened! I should've came back home! I should've-" He pulled me back into the hug, and I began to sob unintelligibly again."Y/N, look at me," he said. I did so, eyes red and puffy. "None of this is your fault. Nothing bad is going to happen to us. I need to tell you something. Something I've never told anyone." He took off my coat and boots for me. Then, he led me to the couch and sat me down for a talk. A talk that I've not forgotten to this day,
"Now, I never thought it would have to come to this... But you're growing stronger and stronger. I should've known it would get harder for you to hide it." I looked at him, wondering what this could mean. What he'd been hesitating. "I met up with... your grandfather when you were a baby. He knew about your powers and what you could do with them. And he told me that you'd be safe with him if anybody else found out.""Am- am I gonna have to live with him?" I asked, my voice soft and shaky. He nodded his head, blinking away some tears forming in his eyes. "B-but I never met him before! I wanna stay with you!" I began to cry again, and I swear I saw a tear leave my dad's eye. "I know, Y/N," he sadly whispered to me. "But you'll be safer with him. There are other people like you where he lives. You won't have to worry about hiding anymore."
I leaned on him and watched the TV. Some animated Christmas movie was on, and I needed something to distract myself with. He said nothing else to me and only held me as we watched the movie.
Later, a loud knock interrupted our peace. Dad started to get up, but I tugged on the bottom of his shirt. With teary eyes, I silently begged him to stay with me. "It's just someone at the door. I'll tell them to leave," he comforted. I nodded my head and slumped back down on the couch. He left, and I heard him open up the door. "Oh. Hello, officer," he greeted. "How can I help you?"
A few minutes later, my dad was taken away from me. And I never saw him again.

Present day
The next morning arrives, and we're about to leave. Rocket and Groot are staying behind with Nebula. I pick my things up from the rubble, including my red Ravager jacket. I bring more things that I want and put them in my backpack, with my camera. It's pretty dirty, but it's still holding strong after all of that.
"You're leaving me with that fox?!" Nebula shouts at Gamora. "He's not a fox," Gamora responds. She turns back to Rocket. "Shoot her if she does anything suspicious. Or if you feel like it," she tells him. Rocket grumbles an "okay" as he's fixing the ship.
Groot is sat down, head low and sad. I kneel to meet his level.
"Hey, buddy," I say, holding my finger out to touch his cheek. "We'll be back before the ship is fixed. Don't worry." I give him a reassuring smile before getting up and joining everyone else. I'll miss him just as much. But we'll be back soon."What if the Sovereign come?" Drax asks Peter. "There's no way for them to know we're here. Let's go," Peter assures as he and Drax exit the broken-down ship. "I'm uncertain about parting ways," Drax confesses. "God, you're like an old woman," Peter complains. "Because I'm wise?" Drax adds. Peter doesn't answer that.
