"Joe? Cherry? Anyone home?" Y/n called, furiously knocking on the couple's door.
She'd been there for 10 minutes already, knocking, yelling and texting the two. But no one came to respond.
The door slid open.
"Excuse m-" Y/n's words died away in her throat as she caught the man standing in front of her. Joe, looking disheveled and annoyed with a head of messy hair and no shirt on.
"What the fuck?" He demanded, one arm propped up on the doorframe.
"First of all, put on a shirt" Said Y/n. "Second of all, why do you look like you just woke up? It's literally 7pm"
Joe blinked. "I wasn't sleeping"
Y/n's eyes widened, realization dawning upon her. "Shit- I should have realized. Well, I'm surprised I didn't hear anything from out here. Sorry for disturbing your play time!" She finished cheerily, ducking under Joe's arm and sliding into his house without another word.
"Wait-" Joe started, his tone panicked as she made her way in.
Cherry was on the couch, a blanket covering him as he stared at Y/n, eyes wide open. It didn't look like he had on anything either, and Y/n, being Y/n, wanted to tease him, but right now, she was just exasperated and wanted to talk to the two.
"Y-y/n?" Cherry managed, glancing at Joe in confusion.
"The couch? Seriously?" Y/n crossed her arms. "Do better"
"What are you doing here?" Cherry demanded.
"I need to talk to you two. Now, go and get dressed. You guys can continue your fun activities later" Y/n took a step back. "I'm going to go to the kitchen and steal your icecream. I'm coming out in 5 minutes and if I don't see you two properly dressed and sitting on that couch, I will go ahead and tell Adam you guys are hooking up"
Joe shook his head. "This kid.."
Y/n began walking towards the kitchen. "Five minutes!" She called after her, closing the kitchen door behind her. She heard the two men's disheveled grunts as they stood and moved about.
Y/n grabbed a canister of ice-cream and sat herself on the counter, spooning the dessert into her mouth as she played on her phone, waiting for the five minutes to end.
finally, the clock hit 7:25, and y/n sprung up from her seat. She strolled to the living room, flopping down on a fluffy armchair as she faced Joe and Cherry.
"What do you want?" Cherry said with crossed arms, leaning into Joe as he talked.
"I need to talk" Y/n replied. "And I came to you two, because you know, the older you are, the wiser"
Joe fumed. "We're not even old!"
"Yes yes, whatever helps you sleep at night"
"Just tell us what you want to talk about" Cherry interrupted.
"Fine. So. I wanted to talk about Miya"
Cherry raised an eyebrow. "Miya?"
"You mean the stuff about Luna?" Asked Joe.
Y/n nodded. "Reki and Langa told you two?"
"Yup"
"Anyways" Y/n started. "There's a lot to say."
"Go on, we're listening" Said Cherry patiently, his voice calm. Y/n liked that about him, the way he could be like a big brother to her when she needed it. He always knew how to read the situation, and he could tell that right now, Y/n really needed someone to vent to, and he would listen.
"So" She sucked in a big breath. "It's been a little more than a week since me and Miya's race. And he's kept true to his word. He's been hanging around with Luna, teaching her how to skate. I haven't seen him once, except for at school"
The two men were silent, waiting.
"He rarely talks to me. It's just the 'hello', 'okay', and 'cool' all the time. and i'm tired of it. Luna still is oblivious to the fact that we're together, and Miya refuses to tell her. He isn't the same person anymore. It's like, he's trying so hard to be someone else for Luna." Y/n felt herself getting angrier at Miya, she was just frustrated and sick of how he acted now. "Luna just dropped into our lives and broke it in half. Who does she think she is, acting so obnoxious and striding around with my Miya at her arm?"
Cherry spoke. "Talk to Luna, maybe? You need to tell her the situation with you and Miya"
"But Miya would never forgive me if I ruined his friendship with Luna"
"Then it's his fault, prioritizing Luna over his own girlfriend"
Joe nodded. "Yeah. Put her in her place."
Y/n hesitated. "I want to avoid as much drama as possible. I don't feel like causing a scandal, especially with so many people in the mix." She went quiet for a second, wrapping her arms around her knees. "Maybe, I should just, end it with him..?"
Joe and Cherry shared a glance. "You should do what you feel is best for you" Cherry concluded. "But we're here to support you no matter what"
Y/n rose from her seat and gave them both a hug. She felt like she was about to burst into tears. "Thank you, for listening to me"
Cherry gave her a small smile. "You're welcome"
"I should go now. I need to think it through"
"If you need any help, give us a call. We'll be there" Joe assured her as she walked out of the door. She smiled at them, though sadly, and waved as she wandered away from their house.
The whole way back home, she thought. She thought about her and Miya's history. She thought about all their memories. She thought about how it was that easy for one person to come in and ruin the entire story. Her head ached from all the thinking, but she couldn't control her anxiety and worrying about the entire thing.
Finally, she came upon a conclusion. She didn't want to break up with him, but the thing is, she didn't know about him.
So she had to find out. In the end, It was her and Luna.
And Miya would have to choose.
