Saturday, the weekend!
Takashi and Rai were seated on the plush sofa's in Rai's living room, whilst Y/n was sprawled across the carpeted floor. The three were working on their project, for math, of course. Rai had arranged for the three to meet up this weekend for extra preparation, considering that instead of a powerpoint, they had decided to make a poster board instead.
Y/n applied glue to a large picture of Archimedes they had printed and stuck it onto the poster. "How's the research going?" she asked the others, attempting conversation
(i actually had to do a project ab him last year & i hated every second of it </3)
Takashi sent a quick grin. "Pretty good. Theres a lot of info on this dude"
"Did you know he apparently ran through the streets naked at one point?" Rai added, eyebrows raised.
"How silly" Y/n commented half-heartedly, focusing her entire attention on tracing the large bubble letters that spelled out A-R-C-H-I-M-E-D-E-S above the man.
the three dropped back into silence. the only sound in the room was the tapping of Rai's nails on her keyboard, Takashi's soft pencil scratches and Y/n's marker drawing math symbols around the poster as decoration.
"Why did we choose him again?" Rai demanded at last, breaking the silence. Rai could never stay quiet for long. Though she may seem shy at first glance, she was actually the most talkative person you could ever meet.
Takashi inspected the chipping black nail polish on his fingers. "my brother said he did archimedes for math one year and got a good mark"
"next time we're doing a girl" said Rai. "#feminism"
Y/n laughed. "Do you think she's gonna partner us together again?"
Rai shrugged. Takashi smiled down at Y/n. "Well, I hope she does"
Y/n couldn't help but flush against her will. Did this count as .. cheating?
Or was it okay, considering Miya and Luna's relationship?
Rai hopped up, putting her laptop on the side. "Anyone want snacks? I'll bring up some food"
Y/n was grateful for the distraction. "Yes, please"
As Rai padded away, Takashi slid down from his seat and settled next to Y/n. He leaned closer and inspected the board, his hair brushing against her cheek.
he smells like chocolate chip cookies.
"Good job" He said, interrupting her thoughts. "It looks really nice"
Y/n smiled. "Thanks!"
"Can I add something?" He asked. Y/n nodded.
He reached for the black marker that was currently in Y/n's hand. His hand enveloped hers, soft against her skin as he plucked the marker from of her fingers.
She watched as he doodled a little pencil on the side, feeling utterly confused but good, a feeling she hadn't gotten from miya for what, a few weeks now? Miya was supposed to be there for her. He was supposed to be the one touching her hand. But yet, he wasn't.
A shame, really.
of course, she couldn't help but feel bad about what was happening right now with miya's worst enemy, but it was just- she- she didn't know. she felt loved, in a way. and it was nice.
Did Miya villainize Takashi too much? Or were her feelings just messing her up?
The door opened again. Takashi rose and splattered back onto the couch. Rai walked in with a tray full of candies and snacks, smiling largely.
She set the tray on the floor on the coffee table next to the sofa. "Bon appetite, lovelies!"
"Rai! Your house is like food heaven" Y/n exclaimed happily, grabbing a few candies and popping them into her mouth. She carefully selected a few delicious looking items and went back to colouring. Takashi did the same. Y/n peeked at his notebook. He had almost filled up his page.
"This are my favorite!" Takashi said in delight, grabbing a pink panda cookie and basically devouring the treat.
Rai laughed. "Take as many as you want - I have loads"
Y/n scarfed down a crunchy spring roll looking like snack. "Can we take a break? we've been working for like an hour already"
Takashi nodded. "Mhm. Maybe we could do something fun?"
"There's like a gas station right across the corner" Said Rai. "And a really good department store. They have loads of yummy snacks - and icecream too"
"Can we go?" Y/n asked, stuffing her markers back into their case.
"Sure!" Agreed Rai. "C'mon, let's not waste any time"
The three stood, cleaning up their stuff before exiting Rai's room. Takashi helped Y/n into her jacket - It was chilly outside, autumn was really showing it's effects.
It was quick 5 minute walk to the gas station, and it was actually really nice out. it was a good kind of coat, and y/n felt perfectly warm in her fluffy jacket.
"there it is!" rai chirped, pointing at a store in the distance. They broke into a run, stopping with huffed breaths when they finally arrived at the entrance.
"I'm so ready for the warmth" Said Takashi, catching his breath.
"Your cheeks are really red" Y/n observed, smiling.
"Yours are too" Takashi said back. They shared a laugh.
The trio tumbled into the warm store at last, matching grins on their faces. Immediately, two of them froze.
Y/n's arms dropped to her sides, eyes wide.
"Wow, what a coincidence! Y/n, Takashi and Rai?" Luna announced, voice as sweet as honey. She gripped Miya's tighter and pulled him closer to her, staring pointedly at Y/n.
