My sister, the ocean, is a sister of watery depths and beauty. She is the custodian of our oceanic kin, the spirit of this world. She pours over mountains and into trenches, in the same way, encircling the planet in a tight embrace.

I wonder if I would have noticed water if I had been born with fins for limbs in the oceans. I think it would have been my air then, and I would have been able to move around in it more easily than a bird in the sky. As it is, I enjoy diving into those salty formless arms and feeling the freedom they provide, which is transparent and blue, tender and strong.
