The Professor

IV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm and immediately got up.

I didn't want a repeat of last time

I heard shuffling next to me and looked to see who it was

It was Lily. For a second there, I forgot I had a roommate

I haven't seen her in a while.

"Morning," I say, trying to be polite, but on the inside, I was still kind of confused on where she's been

"Morning," she replied in a monotone voice. She didn't sound like herself

Ever since we got here, she's been acting weird

I miss my best friend

"Are you ok?" I asked her after a minute of silence

"Yeah, I'm fine, just tired," she said in a monotone

I decided to just leave her. Maybe she would tell me what's wrong when she's feeling better

I got ready and headed to class.

I made sure Mr. Romano couldn't tell me I wasn't in the dress code today

I was just wearing a T-shirt and jeans.

I walked in class and went straight to the back. The farther I walked, I came across a familiar face

James. He looked up and saw me and instantly smiled

"You can sit next to me if you want," he said, trying to convince me to sit with him. "

I nodded my head, but for some reason, I looked over to Mr. Romano to see if he saw

I turned around and was honestly scared for a second

He just had a serious face when I walked in. Now, he was freaking seething

I could almost see the steam rise off of his body as he huffed and puffed

He looked me dead on my eye with this dangerous look and didn't move them

But I just turned back around and started a conversation with my new friend

I kind of peeped back at my professor just to see if he was still looking...he was

He didn't move an inch...

Then the bell rang, and he started class. He looked a bit reluctant, but it is his job

About ten minutes later, Lily walked through the door

I was wondering why she was late "How is she late? We woke up at the same time" I thought

She looked pretty happy though, she had a smile on her face.

Almost like she didn't realize she was late.

"Why are you late?" Mr. Romano asked in his booming voice.

She looked up at him like she had stars in her eyes.

"Um, I had some business to attend to before class and just lost track of time I guess" She said with a little giggle

Mr. Romano started chuckling as well. Which I'm sure scared the whole class as much as it scared me.

His chuckle was low and menacing. The kind of chuckle you hear before you get shot in the head

After a few seconds, he abruptly stopped chuckling. The room was silent. "Get out" was all he said

And she turned around with her head down. But before the left she looked me dead on my eye

And she had a smirk on her face. Then she left

Throughout the rest of the class, I was trying to figure out what that smirk meant

Right now, I'm walking to get groceries. I finished all of my homework and I'm feeling good

But I feel like I'm being watched. I turned around to see if someone was following me but no one was there.

I just figured I'm being paranoid then turned back around

Suddenly, I was dragged into this dark alleyway and pushed to the ground

All I could see was 3 big silhouettes of big buff men

Instantly, they started beating me up

They started calling me a fat bitch and a whore but I was in too much pain to respond

I got a few kicks to the stomach, a few punches to the face, and one large kick to the spine

This was the worst pain I've ever felt, and I'm pretty sure I broke something

I didn't scream. I was in too much pain to. I could feel the blood trickle out of my forehead and my nose.

I felt like I was suffocating. I thought I was going to die

And all I can remember thinking was I'd finally be able to see my parents again

Then everything went black...
