Two - Rumors aren't pretty and Lunchroom trouble

Violet Mae POV

Ever since I told my friends and Rachel about what happened, I've gotten quite a bit of hate. Due to her having a thing for my ex, she's gone around the school and says I cheated on him to he broke up with me.

The people who aren't totally dumb and actually believe the truth know what actually went down, but people like the girls on the poms, cheerleading, and dance teams aren't so smart and believe dumb rumors.

I would say it doesn't matter and that those girls have nothing against me, but that'd be a lie.

As cliché as it sounds, those three groups of girls, though most of them are on all three, almost rule the school. And by rule, I mean more than half the kids here think they are goddesses and that we should bow down to them.

It doesn't help that they are drop dead gorgeous and can have any guy dying to date them.

Because of these girls, my existence, which was previously unknown of, has now been announced to just about everyone in this school.

I wanted to eat lunch in the library, away from everyone in the lunchroom, but Olivia insisted that I should eat with them and pretend that these rumors don't really bother me. Nico even said that he would best them up if my safety seemed to be in danger.

So that's how I found myself sitting at our usual table, sitting next to Olivia, who was listening to Nico trying to make her laugh. It was nice.

Normal.

That is, until Shawn, Ashton, and Devyn walked in.

I swear that everyone's heads snapped towards them in an instant. Apparently their arrival is a big deal

They were standing it that weird triangle formation groups of three do, with Shawn in front and his brothers behind him. They were all dressed differently though, which is better than if they were all dressed the same.

Shawn was wearing dark wash jeans, a white t-shirt and black leather jacket, Ashton had on the same jeans, but was wearing a greenish color collared, short sleeved shirt, and Devyn had on light wash jeans and a navy blue, long sleeved shirt.

Honestly, even though Shawn is a bit of a jackass, they all look hot. Really hot.

I'd hate to admit is out loud though. That's why I keep my mouth shut.

Well, up until the point where they get their trays and start heading towards our table.

"If they sit here, I'm leaving," I say, looking at my friend's.

"But why,? They seem nice," Olivia replies with a small smile, one that makes the expression on Nico's face change from goofy to protective in a second.

"I know for a fact that Shawn, the one in front, is not. All three of them are in my English class and he's a jerk and a half."

"Oh."

Silence falls over our table as we all three watch them walk across the cafeteria and stop next to our table. I can see the cocky smirk on his face as Shawn pretends to look around before sitting right next to me, throwing his arm over my hair.

I look over at Olivia and Nico to see Liv already standing, and Nico glaring at them with his protective look, the same one he gave Jacob when we first started dating.

As soon as I stand up, Nico follows suit and we all begin to walk away, leaving our trays and untouched food on the table.

"Where are you going beautiful?" I hear Shawn say with a smirk.

It seems that the three of us turn in sinc, and before I can say a word, Olivia beats me to it.

"And who are you?" She asks, hands on her hips.

"Oh, the famous Violet Mae knows," the guy responds, cocky.

"Shut up and answer the fucking question."

"Oh, she's got some bite. Devyn likes that."

Liv rolls her eyes and Devyn glares at his brother.

"One, not interested, and two, stay away from Vi. Okay? She's not interested in you, or anyone for that matter."

We watch as Shawn stands and goes to stand right in front of Liv, but Nico stands in front of her so he and Shawn are almost chest to chest.

That's when I realize that Shawn is just a little bit bigger than Nico so if they were to fight, it'd be more than even.

He looks at Nico, then at me, then around Nico and at Olivia.

"You're wrong, girlie. I'm sure Violet Mae does like me, and if she doesn't, she will soon. You just wait and see."

"I won't," I say in a low voice.

He then gets in my face and whispered, "You will. I bet on it."

Nico slaps him away before grabbing my arm and gently leading me out of the cafeteria and into his car, followed, of course, by Olivia.

I crawl into the backseat, the two of them up front, and Nico drives off, not worrying about classes or our bags, and I'm not either.

We won't get it trouble. Olivia will make sure of that.

"That arrogant little-" He stops when Liv rests her hand on his to shut him up. And it worked all to well.

I could tell it brightened his mood greatly and I couldn't help by smile.

"Thanks guys. I don't know why he had to be a jerk about it," I say, messing with my hands.

"What are friends for?" Liv says, looking back at me, still holding Nico's hand. "Besides, he's a dick."

I giggle and smile at her, happy they both have my back.
