Lumina

"W-what do you mean?" Tanong ni Kyle.

I guess it's time to speak...

"My mother had... Eclampsia when she was still pregnant with me," Panimula ko. Kyle sat by my side and listened.

"However, when she was in the middle of labor, the doctors could only save one of us. My mother saved me. She chose me over herself," A tear fell out of my eye.

"Paano mo naman naging kasalanan 'yon, Umi? Bata ka pa. Wala kang kamalay malay," Dagdag ni Kyle

"It is my fault. If she wasn't pregnant with me, it could've been avoided. If she chose to save herself, they could've tried again or I don't know... maybe adopt."

"Pero mahal ka ng mama mo, Umi. Kaya mas pipiliin niyang mabuhay ka. Ganon and ating mga magulang. They're willing to risk everything just to give us a good life," He explained.

"But I didn't get one... I never had a good life, Kyle. Do you know what I want? I want to have a family. May not be perfect, but I want a life where mommy exists and daddy loves me. But that's impossible now..." Yumuko nalang ako.

"I've always been longing for a family... for people who love me..."

"A life with your mom may be impossible pero yung mahalin ka ng daddy mo? Posible yun, Lumina," He comforted me.

"He may blame you pero alam kong deep inside, mahal ka non."

"Bakit mo alam? Nakita mo ba? Have you seen how cold he is even if we're on the same roof? Have you seen how he treats me as someone who is invisible? Have you been to our home? Have you been there since I was young? Wala. You've witnessed nothing," but then I realized what I just said. I was carried away.

Oh no. I was rude.

I didn't mean to.

Oh no.

I screwed up.

"Kyle, I'm sorry-"

"Wala ako nung bata ka pa. I've only met you 5 months ago. I haven't witnessed much. Pero yung kanina? Nakita ko yun. Kitang kita ko yun, Lumina."

"W-what do you mean?"

"He smiled while you were performing..."

"Then why did he choose..." I couldn't finish because I was confused.

"Yan ang hindi ko na alam," He chuckled.

"I'm sorry," I looked at him with a worried face.

"First time kong makita na galit ka. Nakakaproud," He proceeded to tease me.

"I'm really, genuinely, sincerely sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way. I don't even know why those words came out of my mouth but regardless of that, I'll take full responsibility for my actions."

"I'm really, genuinely, sincerely, okay. Joke. Okay nga lang 'yon, eh. Sige ka magagalit ako," I turned around and crossed his arms.

"Hala! I'm sorry. I won't apologize na," My eyes widened and I faced him, looking worried. He just chuckled and gave me my bag and bouquet.

"May hahatid ba sa'yo pauwi?" He asked.

"Yeah, I think nanny and manong Mario's already outside," I nodded.

"Ingat ka!" he waved while walking backwards on the opposite direction, meaning he was also on his way home.

"You too! Hoping for good results next week!" I waved back and gave him a thumbs up. His results for his role would be next week kasi.
