A New Life on a New Earth

Chapter 23

The next morning Oliver and Kara woke up and walked out into the living room to see that Emiko was still sleeping on the couch. They wondered when the last time was that Emiko had had a good night's sleep. She looked so peaceful, which was a far cry from what they had seen from her last night when they first encountered her and the Ninth Circle. Oliver went to start the coffee maker and he started to make breakfast as well. The smell of the coffee and food was enough to wake up their guest.

"Yum. Something smells good in here." Emiko said as she walked to the kitchen to see her brother and his girlfriend hard at work on breakfast.

"You can have a cup of coffee while I am putting the finishing touches on breakfast." Oliver said and Emiko did just that.

"So, what's the plan for the day?" Emiko asked.

"Not too much. I took the day off of work and Thea did the same. We are going to have a sibling day, so that we can get to know each other." Oliver said.

"Kara won't be joining us?" Emiko asked.

"Not today. I need to be at work, and plus, the three Queen siblings need to get to know each other. We will have plenty of time to get to know each other." Kara said with a smile.

"I would like that. I think we will be good friends." Emiko said and Kara nodded.

To tell the truth today was about learning everything they could about Emiko, and seeing if she would be the right fit for their team, or if she was just going to be a civilian, or maybe even an enemy. It was all about seeing how Emiko would react to things and the first test was to see how she reacted to her family.

"Ok, let's get to eating so we can start our day off right and then we can go and meet up with Thea and start our day of fun." Oliver said and the two girls nodded as they started to eat their meal and then everyone went to get ready for the day that was ahead of them.

Fifteen minutes after Oliver and Emiko left the apartment, they arrived at Thea and Roy's apartment. Oliver knocked on the door and a minute later Thea was opening the door and stepping out of the house to join her siblings.

"Let me lock up and then I am ready to go." Thea said and the other two nodded.

"So, what is the plan for the day?" Thea asked.

"Haven't really come up with anything yet. Today is about getting to know each other, so I am open to ideas from the two of you as well." Oliver said.

"How about a movie, and then we can eat lunch. There is a movie that just came out that I want to watch." Thea said.

"No chick flicks thought, please." Emiko said.

"Oh, you and I are going to get along just fine. I hate a chick flick, although occasionally there is a good one that comes out." Thea said.

"How about you Oliver? Do you like chick flicks?" Emiko asked.

"Not particularly. I normally just watch them because it is what the girl wants to watch." Oliver said.

"Good. So, we don't have to worry about watching a click flick when the three of us go out together." Thea said.

"So, what was this movie you wanted to see, Thea?" Emiko asked.

"The new James Bond movie. I love all of Daniel Craig's James Bond movies." Thea said.

"Yeah, they are great movies. Let's go." Oliver said.

The three Queen siblings went to watch the movie and they all enjoyed the movie and they were talking about what had happened in the movie.

"Not exactly how I expected things to happen, but I do have to say everything made sense in the end." Thea said.

"Yeah, I will say that it was a very good movie. It is kind of weird going to see a movie with action in it these days, because we are actually facing some of the things that we might see in those movies." Oliver said.

"I guess that makes sense. I had never thought about it like that. I guess that comes from me working with the wrong people for most of my life. If I had been with the good guys, I am sure that I would see it the same way that you two do." Emiko said.

"Yeah, it definitely feels like real life. The surprising thing is, I have seen Ollie get ideas from some of the movies that we have watched in the past, and use those ideas in helping us take down the bad guys." Thea said.

"I have done that before. It is just too easy to get ideas that would be useful for us at times. The bad thing is, some of these movies also give the bad guys ideas as well." Oliver said.

"I never really thought about it that way, but you do have a point. It really is too easy for both sides to get tips from movies and tv these days." Thea said.

"I can agree with that. So, I am getting hungry. Let's go and get some lunch." Emiko said and her two siblings nodded as they went and found a diner that was nearby.

They all had a good lunch and ended up learning a lot about each other. This was the time that Oliver and Thea were going to figure out if Emiko would be a good addition to their team. Everything had gone well so far and now that they were done with lunch, they were all walking back to Thea's apartment.

The three siblings walked inside Thea's apartment and sat down and relaxed and talked for a bit longer.

"So, we were wondering if you would want to be a part of our team here? Of course, being that you are a former bad guy, you will have a probation hearing just as Laurel is going to." Oliver said.

"I can understand that you need to know where my allegiances lie, so I would like to be on your team and being on probation is not a problem for me." Emiko said.

"That is good. We will have Lena and Winn work on a suit for you. Do you have any specific designs that you would want?" Thea asked.

"I will think about that and let you know." Emiko said and Thea nodded.

"Ok, so now that we have figured that out, now we need to get you a job. You can stay between Thea and my place until you get on your feet." Oliver said.

"I have a degree in Applied Sciences. Do you think Lena would hire me to work at L Corp?" Emiko asked.

"There is only one way to find out. We will ask her when we take you to the bunker to let Winn and Lena work on your suit." Oliver said.

"Sounds good, so what's the plan for the rest of the day?" Emiko asked.

"We don't really get many days off around here, so I say we just relax and enjoy our day off, because tomorrow everything is going to be back to normal." Thea said and the other two siblings nodded and decided that Thea was right and they could really use this day off.
