A New Life on a New Earth

Chapter 43

Lena had been looking into Gemma Cooper for a while and it seems that Gemma was Andrea's mentor when she graduated from college. She had a degree in technology, which made sense since she was working at one of the most known technology companies in the world. Everything looked on the up and up from what she was seeing here. Lena decided to use facial recognition on Gemma so that she could see if Gemma had been anywhere that would mean trouble for the heroes. When the results came back Lena pressed the panic button so that Kara would get there as soon as possible.

Once Kara arrived, with Oliver with her, they walked over to the computers where Lena was sitting. "Being that you used the panic button, I guess you found something that is urgent." Kara said.

"Very urgent. I used facial recognition on Gemma Cooper and look what I found." Lena said.

"Ok, I must be missing something. What is so bad about this picture?" Oliver asked.

"Look at the time stamp." Lena said and the two heroes did that.

"Ok, so that is a picture taken thirty years ago and she doesn't look like she has aged a day. I am assuming that she must be part of Leviathan then." Kara said.

"That is my thoughts. I don't know about Eve, but we now know that this woman needs to be stopped. Eve could still be working with her though." Lena said.

"Yeah, she could be, but if we take care of Gemma Cooper first, Eve might not have anywhere to go and that will make her useless." Oliver said.

"That makes sense. So, I guess we need to get the rest of the team here and tell them what is going on now." Kara said as she made calls to all of the team members and let them know to get to the bunker as soon as possible.

Once Kara had told the whole team what was going on, Alex asked, "So, what is the plan now?"

"We don't really have one yet. I know that we need to find a way to get into that simulation and see if we can find a way to shut Leviathan down without hurting the people who are already inside. There have been too many deaths because of this program already." Kara said.

"Maybe I can go and talk to Andrea. We used to have a good relationship. Maybe I can talk her into looking into the program and seeing if she can find the infection." Lena said.

"How will you do that without making it look like you are working with us though." Thea asked.

"I bought a pair of the lenses the other day so that I can make it look like I have been in the program. I can bring up something about me being inside and seeing a problem. She will take me seriously since I have my own company and know some things about technology as well." Lena said.

"That makes sense. Do what you have to do to get her to take a look at this situation. If she sees it, maybe she will shut the project down until we have a chance to stop what is going on." Oliver said.

"I will do what I can. What will the rest of you do in the meantime?" Lena asked.

"Well, other than Gemma, we don't know where the rest of Leviathan is, so I was thinking that we could follow her and see where she goes after she takes off from work." Oliver said.

"Great, so we get to do a stakeout. I love them so much." Sara said sarcastically and this earned a chuckle from Oliver.

"I understand that these things can get boring, but they are necessary sometimes. So, who wants to be on duty for tonight?" Oliver asked.

"I'll do it. I don't have much going on later." Emiko said and Oliver nodded at his sister, who was really trying to help the team as much as she could since she changed sides and decided to come with them to this new earth.

"I'll go with her. It will give us a chance to get to know each other better. What will the rest of you be doing?" Thea asked.

"Well, we do need to make sure that the city is safe. Some of us can patrol, while the others can stay here and train." Oliver said.

"Everyone can stay here and train. I will do a quick fly through the city and see if anything that needs our help is happening. If there is, I will let everyone know." Kara said as she changed into her suit and flew off.

"Well, I guess we should get to working out then." Sara said as she and some of the others went to change into their workout clothes, while Emiko and Thea changed into their suits and went to trail Gemma Cooper.

"I will see you guys later. I am going to meet up with Andrea and see if she is willing to look into her program for us." Lena said as she left the bunker as the others got to work on working out.

Lena was back at the bunker a few hours later and she looked like she had found something that could help them. "So, Andrea looked into the program and she found a problem. She is shutting down the project until the problem is fixed. This gives us a little bit more time to work with now." Lena said.

"Thanks Lena. I was hoping that this would be the outcome of your meeting, but I didn't want to get my hopes up." Kara said.

"Glad I could help. So, what is the plan now?" Lena said.

"We need to wait for Thea and Emiko to get back and then we will discuss everything that we know. We need to know everything before we make a move." Oliver said.

"Yeah, that plan is probably for the best. If we know where Leviathan is located, then we should be able to stop them rather easily." Lena said and Oliver nodded.

"So, we could be done with this threat soon then?" Alex asked.

"If everything works out right, then yes, we could be done with Leviathan by the end of this week." Kara said and everyone was happy to hear this.
