Lin Fan's POV

"Psst..."

I paused from writing down notes as I heard a noise from beside me. I stayed quiet for a couple of seconds to see if I'm really hearing someone or I just heard it wrong. Hearing nothing, I just shrugged and looked back at Mister Sun who is discussing in front about something called a pie. And let me tell you, it's the only pie I know that is actually made up of numbers.

"Psst... Fanfan..."

I stopped again, this time, I glanced at Keran who's sitting beside me. My head tilted in confusion as I saw that she isn't even looking at me and she's also listening to Mister Sun teach. If it isn't her, then who's calling me? It couldn't be Y/N. Well because she isn't even here. Ella Laoshi called her and Yu Yan to work on something for the play.

I was to brush it all off again when Keran poked me on the side, hand holding a note and gesturing for me to take it. My expression turned to confusion but I took the note, nonetheless. I could see the ghost of a smile that made itself clear on Keran's lips as I did so.

What could this be about? We're like little kids secretly passing notes in class. But isn't it sweet? I couldn't help but feel butterflies in my stomach as I put the note underneath my desk to read it in secret. I took one glance at Mister Sun and saw him still focused on discussing.

'What animal is the best in math?'

The note read. I looked back at Keran in amusement as a smile became impossible to hold back from my lips. I saw her biting her lips as she tried to control her smile as well. I picked up my pen and wrote underneath her question.

'What?'

I folded it up again and held it out to her, keeping my eyes on the front to avoid being suspicious. She took it and opened it. A small, barely audible giggle left her pretty lips before she's scribbling something on the paper again. The process repeated and she soon passed the note back to me. Luckily, Mister Sun has yet to notice that something's already happening behind him. I opened the paper and read it.

'Cows. Cause they invented the COWculator."

It was such a corny joke and all but it still managed to make a smile appear on my lips and before I could help myself, a bubble of laughter rose up my throat. I covered my mouth and looked at Keran in amusement. She, too, has a grin on her face. It isn't supposed to be so funny as this.

I shook my head as I slowly began to calm down and stop laughing. But I must admit that it did help me get rid of the slight sleepiness that I was feeling and making this class less dull. It's really a miracle how Mister Sun didn't catch us yet. Well, maybe he already did and is just choosing to ignore us.

For a couple more minutes, and we continued to pass each other notes, giggling to ourselves and keeping each other entertained. This is definitely not a very good thing to be doing, but we couldn't help it. I think I might fall asleep because of the discussion.

"Now, that's the final answer!"

Mister Sun suddenly spoke up and he's turning to us. Keran quickly put her hand down and hid the note she's about to give me, under her desk. Mister Sun scanned the room with a smile, asking if we understood the concepts and we all said yes. Even me, even if I really didn't. All I've been able to register for the past ten minutes were Keran's jokes.

"Brilliant! Now who wants to try and solve the problem on the board?" He asked and looked around.

I wasn't really worried that my name would be called out. Mister Sun is too nice to call unwilling and uncertain students. He'll probably call Yuxin, whose hand is already raised in the air. I was right as he called her and gave her a marker to start solving.
