You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." – Dr. Seuss*********
Faiza's voice came through the phone, urgent and excited. "Hussy , get ready ASAP! I'm coming to pick you up right now, so we can head to the makeup artist and book an appointment for Aunty Khady. We also need to collect our clothes from the tailor."
Should I call and remind Aunty?""No, don't bother. i can just ask her yourself."
"Alright, I'll see you soon," faiza exclaim , hanging up the call.
She picked up her phone and began scrolling through Instagram. Her eyes widened as she saw a new post from a certain someone. "After ages, he's finally posted something new. The picture showed him looking handsome, with a captivating smile. She find herself murmuring, "Masha Allah, he does look handsome."
She read the caption, "It's colder than my soul out here!" 🥶and couldn't help but chuckle.
Her hand seemed to move of its own accord, tapping on the comments section. Her eyes scanned the sea of admiring comments from girls, and her frown deepened. What really caught her attention, though, was that he was actively responding to some of them. It seemed he is familiar with these girls, and that thought sent a pang of annoyance through her. She couldn't bring herself to read the rest of the comments. Instead, she find herself dialing his number, her fingers moving swiftly over the keypad. But he didn't answer. Her eyes narrowed. He knows exactly what he'd done, and now he is avoiding her.
Pressing her lips together, she stood up from the bed and walked outside to check on her mother. Her siblings had left for Islamiya classes, and the house us quiet. Her mind, is racing with thoughts of him and his online interactions.
"Adda, I'm going out with Faiza later," she mumbled, squatting beside her mother.
Her mother nodded, "Where are you going?"
"Faiza said I'm escorting her to the makeup studio, and we need to collect some clothes from the tailor."
"Don't stay out too long. And by the way, Captain just called me now."
A glint of surprise flashed in Husna's eyes. "Adda, are you serious? He called you? That means he saw my call and refused to pick up because he knows exactly what he did."
Her mother looked at her sternly. "Husna, why are you behaving this way towards him? Just because you know he loves you? You're using it against him; you need to stop that."
"What did I do? Why do you always side with him, Adda?"He's flirting with random girls online!"
"What's wrong with him talking to other girls? Did Allah create him just for you? You're being unreasonable, Husna."
She let out a frustrated groan and snatched her mother's phone. She stomped towards her room, dialing his number on her own phone, but he ignored her call. Undeterred, she called him again using her mother's phone. This time, he answered on the first ring.
"Assalamu alaikum," he mumbled, his voice laced with sleep.
"Wa'alaikumu salam, ina wuni?" Husna replied, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "How are you doing, Captain?"
