. "If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things."– Albert Einstein

She sat on the bed, her leg stretched out as she read her book. Despite her exams starting on Monday, and today being Saturday, she is leaving Lagos for Kaduna tomorrow morning. Being with his family is overwhelming, as they all seemed to like her. He's returning to work on Monday, Insha Allah.
Engrossed in her book, she didn't notice when when entered the room. "Miss bookworm," he mumbled , gently placing his head on her lap. She jumped slightly, Looking at his face, you told me you weren't coming back now?" she exclaim softly, placing her book on the nightstand.
He smile I'm tired, and my head is hurting a bit, so I decided to come back now."
"Ya salam, sorry," she gently massage his head. "Have you taken any medicine?"
No, I haven't," he replied, his eyes still closed, enjoying the gentle massage. "I was hoping you'd take care of me," he added, with a smile.
"Captain, why don't you like medicine?"
He shrugged, wrapping his hands around her waist as he faced her. "Have you talked to Aunty? How's Abba's health?" he asked about her father's health.
They had received a call two days ago that her father had fallen seriously ill and had been rushed to the hospital. The doctors had diagnosed him with high blood pressure and diabetes. She has been worried about her father's illness, but her mother has told her that he is. feeling better now. She even spoken with him today.
She sighed, pressing her lips together. "Aunty told me that he's fine, but..." She whipped her head towards the bedside.
"But what?" he raised his brows.
"Nothing," she shrugged, glancing at the time on the wall. "I haven't greeted Mom yet, and it's almost 12:30 pm. And I haven't seen the twins around today."
"They went out," he replied. "What were you saying about your father?" he asked.
"Nothing, not really. I pray he gets well soon, insha Allah," she mumbles , pressing her lips together as she looked at him. She couldn't bring herself to tell him that her father's condition was critical. They needed help, and he had already done so much for them, changing her parents' house and getting her father a proper job. How could she tell him about her father's condition now?
She forced a weary smile. He nodded, raising his head up. "Get ready, Mom told me to take you to her sister's house." He bit his lip, looking at her. "But if you're tired, it's fine. We can tell her maybe to go another day."
"Hey, who told you I'm tired? Besides, I didn't do anything today.guess you don't want to go?
He raised his head up and jumped to his feet. "For some reason, I don't want to go there."
"What reasons?"
He shrugged. "Just get ready, greet Mom first, and I'll be right back."
She stood up from the bed and walked over to her closet. She pulled out a peach fitted dress and changed into it. She applied some powder and kohl, though she is not used to wearing makeup and her eyes began to water slightly. She quickly grabbed a tissue and wiped her eyes, then applied some lip gloss. After packing her hair and tying her headtie, she picked up her veil and sprayed on some perfume.
She walked out of the room, with a gentle "Assalamu alaikum." His mom is lying on the bed, phone in hand, and smiled warmly as she ended her call.
Good afternoon, Husna greeted her
She smiled widely "Afternoon, Asma'u . How's your father's health? I just spoke with your mother."
She fidgeted with her fingers, feeling a bit shy around his mom. "Alhamdulillah," she replied. She stayed there for a while, chatting with his mom, until Hameed came in and they prepared to leave the house.

They arrived at his aunt's residence, he parked the car in the parking lot, and they walked to the house, sitting on the couch for a while before the woman descended from the stairs, smiling.
"My daughter is here," she mumbled plastering a wide smile on her face as she saw Husna. Husna smile back at her as she immediately stood up to greet her.
"Masha Allah, finally you decided to bring her today.
He chuckled. "She's here to greet her big mother in law."There is a moment of silence as the maid came and placed refreshments in front of them. She then offered some words of advice about marriage before silence fell again.
Since she spot the black Mercedes parked in the parking lot. She knows he must be here, She couldn't even park her car properly, and her happiness is written all over her face. She alighted from the car in a hurry, not even bothering to close the door properly. She's clad in skinny jeans and a white baggy shirt, with a white jersey veil tied around her head. Her light makeup perfectly matched her skin tone, and she looked like a true model.
She walked towards the entrance, and took a deep breath before flinging the door open, her smile and happiness vanished instantly. Everyone turned to look at her, hameed immediately averted his attention, engrossing himself in his phone.
"Fareeda, you're back. Your brother is here with his wife," her exclaim.
Fareeda tried to force a fake smile onto her face. "So, this is the Husna girl," she thought, raising an eyebrow. "Let's get it this way ."
She moved forward, her eyes fixed on Husna. "Ya Hameed, good evening. Finally, I got the chance to meet our bride," she exclaim , smiling at him.
He bit his lips, remaining silent. She knows she wouldn't get a response from him, not after their last encounter. Fareeda had made some hurtful comments about Husna, and they had gotten into a heated argument. She had later apologized, claiming she hadn't meant what she said, but the damage was done.It has only been a few days since the incident, and Fareeda hadn't even attended the wedding. When her mother asked her about it, she made up excuses, saying she has too much on her mind to attend.
She squatted beside Husna, who smiled back at her. "Our aunty, I'm so sorry I didn't attend your wedding. Hope you're forgiving?"
Husna nodded and smiled warmly.
Thank you, and I hope you're treating our brother well."
She nodded, though she didn't quite understand fareeda intentions. They left the house around 3:00 pm. Before departing, Fareeda managed to exchange numbers with Husna, which made her incredibly happy. She thought to herself that this is a great way to start putting her plans into action...
