Third person's pov

Meera was stressed out, barely eating and sleeping since last night when he ordered, no, threatened her to improve the project to maintain the reputation of his company or marry him. What an ill fate she had to start the project herself which felt like a curse to her. She was currently working in her office since six in the morning, surprisingly Elijah let her come early and came two hours later. He didn't need to know that she skipped breakfast and had a vegetable sandwich for lunch when he grilled her head demanding that she eats healthy food or if she ate or not. Meera scoffed in her head at his fake worries. She knew better than anyone that it was just an act. An evil, despicable man like him only knows to give pain.

After much struggle, she completed the project. Though he had a part to make her work harder by ordering her around instead of John and barking tasks here and there. Not to forget when she refused he gave her a hickey on the already bruised neck which she hid with a turtle neck black crop top paired with high waist burgundy pants and blazer.

It was closing time when she went to his office. He was typing furiously on his mac book. She cleared her throat to make her presence known. Without sparing her a glance he ordered commandingly,

"Speak"

she gulped nervously, feeling a little afraid of getting her new additions to the project rejected by him who looked to be in a sour mood. She meekly spoke,

"The project is complete. I wanted you to check and approve it"

he finally looked up at her pointedly, forwarding his hand to her and gesturing at the file she had in hand. Understanding she gave it to him. With utter concentration, he studied the project, and after an agonizing five minutes he nodded at her and said

"I approve, it's good"

A breath of relief left her mouth, the tensed muscles relaxed a little. Now if Mr. Anderson agrees then she can finally breathe without any worry. Elijah watched her closely, seeing the stiff muscles, and frowning face. She looked stressed but did it bother him? No, it was the opposite. He wanted her stressed so that she can't think straight for the next move of his. Which according to him should be in motion by now. So smirking internally he told her,

"You will now have to research why Mr. Anderson is hesitant to accept our deal"

she frowned in confusion, not clearly understanding him. He sighed like when a teacher has to teach a dense student the easiest part of the lesson again. He gave her a bored look explaining,

"If you noticed he was acting weird and declined the perfect project. So I doubt there is something that's stopping him to agree or may I say he purposely rejected it. To avoid it happening again I want you to find the reason behind it"

her mouth opened in 'o' shape when his words dawned in the stuffed-up mind. She nodded her head in understanding. He was clever, nobody could have thought that she has to give it to him. Of course, he is not the richest man and most successful businessman for nothing. But there is a problem which she voiced out,

"How am I going to do that? "

sighing again he told her in a coaxing voice which is used on a toddler to explain something,

"John will show you how, but you will be the one doing it"

She again nodded and was about to leave when he stopped her saying in a deep lower voice which made her spine straighten in nervousness,

"I wasn't finished"

slowly turning around she looked at his sharp gaze and hard face shifting from one foot to another anxiously. He enjoyed his doe on edge, it's entertaining. He didn't even start on the best part yet and she was already fretting. He clasped his hands together placing them on the table announcing her fate sardonically,
