She had gotten there too late.

"Blast away!" Inumaki unleashes his cursed speech towards Hanami. The creature was immediately blown away towards the higher roof, landing with a loud bang that crushed part of the roof.

Right where Maki needed the creature to be at.

The repercussion for such a spell against a curse stronger than him was immediately. His throat closed in and crushed itself under the weight of the curse, forcing blood to spew out of Inumaki's mouth in agony. Hot red blood splattered on the roof tiles. Collapsing onto both knees, he felt himself sway for a bit and starts to fall forward.

Until he was caught in a pair of arms before he falls over and his head rests atop a small shoulder.

"Maguro-senpai!" Fushiguro exclaimed, followed by the sound of another blast from Maki attacking the Special Grade creature.

M-Maguro? Toge thought to himself.

"Toge-kun? Toge-kun!" Maguro called anxiously, shaking Inumaki's shoulder as she held him in her arms. Inumaki's eyes opened a little. Her small shoulder, her scent. And her voice. She's keeping him awake. Wait, was this even Maguro? Wasn't she at the broadcasting room? Indeed, Ieiri forbade her to participate in the tournament as she was a precious asset to the school second only to her.

She is supposed to be there, where it is safe.

Everyone else could be harmed, but not her. She is the asset. She is their only hope to be able to heal from curses. She must live and not be harmed.

Hence, she must not be here.

"R-run..." Inumaki wanted to command, but all it came out is a toneless whisper. He's at his limits, and he couldn't say another word. But he knew, she heard him.

She's the only one who could hear him.

If anything happens now, he couldn't protect her anymore.

One hand coming up shakily, he grabbed onto her shoulder from behind and held her to him, subconsciously protecting her from any harm and shielding her with his body. "M-Maguro...No...you have to... run..." he called her in his mind, but she shushed him and begun her Reverse Cursed Technique on him right there in her arms, with one of her hands cradling his throat to speed up the healing there as her hand glowed with the golden hue her technique brings.

"It's alright, Toge-kun," she said to him reassuringly, her other hand cradling the back of his head possessively. "It's okay. I got you. I won't let anything happen to you or anyone else here. Bear with me for a while, okay? I'll make this quick."

As she kneeled there with Inumaki in her arms, she saw the other Kyoto student lying somewhere along the roof, appearing gravely injured as well and unconscious. With the hand that cradles Inumaki's head, Maguro lifted that hand up and projected her Reverse Cursed Technique to him, healing from afar.

"You should be able to talk now, Toge-kun," she said to him, running her glowing hands along other areas of his body to heal up any unseen underlying injuries. "We need to leave here. Our powers are not suited to fight this monst-"

Toge spewed out more blood. The hot liquid spreads across the back of Maguro's white uniform.

"Toge-kun!" she gasped. His body leaned sideways and as he fell, Maguro caught him and lowered him down sideways, supporting him in her arms. "You're not healing," Maguro said, eyes wide with panic as the dreaded feeling sets her heart racing against her ribcage. He looked up at her tiredly, coughing up blood as he choked slightly on it. Maguro worriedly wiped the blood from the corner of his lips, smearing the bright liquid across his cheeks in stark contrast against his now pale white skin. "Why aren't you healing? Why? Wh-"

A thought flashes in her mind. She couldn't hear Toge when she is outside of the Veil.

Right then, Nishimiya Momo dropped down with her almost worn-out broom and ran towards Kamo, shaking him for respond. She looked right up at Maguro and glared.

"Do something!" she exclaimed, her hand pressing on a patch of red on Kamo's forehead. There was nothing else better to use to stop the bleeding on her classmate's forehead than her hand right now. "That uniform... You have the Reverse Cursed Technique didn't you!? Do something!"

Maguro's eyes widened in fear. They aren't healing.

And...

And it was because...

She snapped her head and looked up.

The veil. The barrier doesn't just stop communication. It stops Reverse Cursed Technique too. This is a fight to death with sorcery powers. Truly, with this veil in place, none of them will leave here alive if they continue to sit here and do nothing.

She saw the Kyoto third year senpai still lying unconscious on the roof whilst the big chunk of wooden curse got smacked to the far side of the river surrounding the college. Fushiguro and Maki followed the creature, successfully smacking the spirit far away from the injured.

The Kyoto senpai isn't healing too. Dammit. DAMMIT!

Gritting her teeth, she magnified her technique by another level, pushing out all she has towards both. But they aren't healing.

They aren't healing. If they continue to remain under this veil with this monster, none of them will be able to escape alive-

Wait.

Under the veil.

They can't get out now. Then...then...

Maguro thought of Casting within the veil.

She could still draw out her powers, that means abilities aren't entirely blocked out here. The Special Grade Cursed Spirit wanted a fight. They blocked out her Reverse Cursed Technique abilities just so they could fight uninterrupted till everyone died. Damn them. The Mole must have helped in this.

Casting. She could try to cast her very own barrier she has practiced when Gojo sensei was around. Maybe...maybe if she added the Reverse Cursed Technique into it, the barrier could then heal any of them that is within her barrier. It should and could be the only thing that could help everyone here now. She has never tried using Reverse Cursed Technique underneath her veil before but...

Looking down at the pale Inumaki and the fallen Kyoto third year, Kamo, she bit her lips.

This needs to work.

She prayed hard. The least she could do is to heal them all and bring them all back, safe and unharmed. Let this work. Let it work.

Let her have the power to save them.

She had enough of watching her loved ones die. This time, she got their backs.

It's high time she starts her supporting role in the jujutsu world.

"Hold on, Toge-kun," Maguro whispered, leaning her forehead against his. Toge lifted up his hand weakly and touched her face. Gripping his cold hand, Maguro presses a kiss into his palm and presses his hand back on her face. "Just a while more. I'll heal you in a while more."
