This year was really hard on Min-ah, mentally. She was put under a lot of pressure when she debuted as the only female member of BTS. She received hate daily. At one point, Min-ah received so much hate that she had a serious conversation with her members, about leaving the group. However, it was Namjoon that convinced her to stay. He assured her that the hate would not last forever and that she would always be safe with her members.

𝗦𝗧𝗬𝗟𝗘 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪

As time grew closer and closer for Min-ah to debut in BTS, the company spent a long time trying to piece together a certain concept for Min-ah. The company thought that since Min-ah was debuting with male members, they had to let her debut with "impact." Min-ah had to dye her hair and change her clothing style almost completely to fit with BTS' "hip-hop" debut concept. Min-ah absolutely hated this concept. She hated that she essentially was only able to debut as someone entirely different from herself.

𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪

During her debut year, Min-ah was often seen as cold and quiet. Because she was the only girl in the group, Min-ah knew of some backlash she would face so she became very cautious of speaking, as she never wanted to accidentally say something wrong and make the seemingly already big target on her back even bigger.

𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪

Min-ah spent majority of her debut year proving to everyone who doubted her skills, that she could hold her own in BTS. As her line distribution wasn't necessarily big during her debut, she focused more on her dancing, which definitely won a lot of people over.

𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗦 & 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗦

After Min-ah debuted in BTS, a lot of netizens were against it. People believed that Big Hit was wasting the potential of BTS being a big named boy band, by placing a "random" girl in the group.
