opening her locker, haeyeon looked through her phone and spotted a new notification from the school website, an e-poster of the school's spring carnival
this looks fun, i should ask rara
she went ahead to send bora a text about the carnival
yeon: rara, want to go to the carnival with me? delivered
"excuse me.. haeyeon?"
haeyeon felt a tap on her shoulder and looked behind her to see chanyoung. "oh, hey chan! what's up?" she chirped, closing her locker at the same time
rubbing his nape nervously, chanyoung continued, "ahhh, i was wondering if.. you would like to go to the spring carnival with me?"
"oh, i— "

the sound of a nearby locker closed shut as it resonated through the corridors. hearing this, the two instantly whipped their heads towards it
standing there was a monotonously looking na jaemin. with his math books in one hand, he tossed his other arm over haeyeon's shoulder
"get lost. she's already going with me" jaemin spat and chanyoung lowered his head frightfully as he walked away, scared
as jaemin was taller than her, haeyeon had to tilt her head to look up at him. "what was that for? since when am i going with you??" she deadpanned, moving his arm off her shoulder
"thank me later when hyuck finds out about this" jaemin winked at her and walked away to class, also winking at other girls along the way
"why that little.." haeyeon raised her fists and air-punched at his diminishing figure
rara: babes i'm sorry i can't go with you😭😭 rara: my parents doesn't allow..

rolling her eyes, haeyeon shifted her gaze towards the boy beside her. "what" she whispered, her face displaying an annoyed expression
"could i borrow your.. notes?" jaemin asked, pointing to the notebook that she had been keeping under the table
sighing, haeyeon pulled the notebook from under the table. "this one?" she questioned and jaemin nodded eagerly
her expression turned into a frown. "then no" she deadpanned before turning back to the ms kang who was explaining about matrices and vectors
jaemin sent her a glare. "tch! mean" he mumbled but since haeyeon sat beside him, she could hear him. "is it my fault you weren't paying attention earlier?"
"please yeon, i can't fail the test tomorrow. my parents will kill me... i'll do anything for you" haeyeon turned towards him when she heard anything
"anything huh?" she pushed and jaemin instantly regretted saying that but it was too late to go back on his words. "yeah anything.."
haeyeon thought for awhile and then there was one thought that lingered in her mind for quite some time
"then... go to the carnival with me" she finally said and jaemin widened his eyes. "what the— i'd rather get hit by hyuck than go with you"
not gonna lie, haeyeon felt a tinge of sadness upon hearing that but she shrugged it off
"hm then no notes, and you'll fail the test, and your parents will get the notice and then— "
jaemin held his hand up to stop her from continuing
"okay okay i get it. fine i'll go with you, happy?" he said in a louder voice which attracted the attention of their maths teacher and classmates
"na jaemin, lee haeyeon, would you two like to come up and share what you were talking about with the class?" ms kang warned them as she hit the board behind her
"no saem! sorry" haeyeon replied apologetically at the math teacher as she side-eyed jaemin with a knowing look
"this is your second warning. i'm changing your places if this continues" jaemin's smile faltered slightly at the thought of a new table mate
"sorry ms kang. i assure you it won't happen again" jaemin added in and ms kang nodded her head in response, turning back to the board
"i'm sure you're doing it for the notes.." haeyeon mumbled under her breath as she took the notebook from under the table and passed it to him
"of course" was the only thing he said as he took her notebook with a smile on his face, "thanks yeon"
"sheesh.."
