Caleigh's POV

The following morning I am awoken out of my bed by a knock on my door. Rolling over, I realize that it is currently five o'clock in the morning. Groaning, I get up and walk towards the door - knowing I'm going to be in such a bad mood all day if I do not get more sleep.

Once the door is open I see a tall figure standing outside... Matthew. "Yes?" I ask him, trying to hide the sarcastic tone in my voice. I am no joke when I am tired. "I came to wake you up. We are leaving around six-thirty and I did not know what all you had to do." I nodded and moved to let him in, simultaneously turning on the light.

Matthew goes and sits on my bed. "Why are we leaving so early?" I ask him. I do not know exactly how far his pack is from mine; however, I do know that it is quite far. "It takes roughly eight hours to get there without stopping, which I'm sure we will do. That will put us getting there around two or three, and I have a meeting scheduled for five." He explains to me. I nod my head and head for my closet.

I can hear Matthew walking around, looking at stuff in my room. After a few seconds I hear him behind me. "Who is this?" I turn around to find a slightly concerned expression on his face. I look at the photo he is holding, and a small, sad smile appears. It was a picture of me and my friends. Michael, Bella, Jason and I. "That would be my best friend, Jason." He nods but still looks confused. "Why haven't I met him yet? I have met your other two friends in this photo." Tears are welling in my eyes at this point. "He passed away about a year ago. He was a pack warrior. Rogues broke through our borders while we were at our favorite swimming hole. He died protecting me." He gave me a look of sympathy. "I'm sorry I asked." I shook my head, "it's okay. I've accepted the fact that he done what he done out of love for me. I cannot let it detour my life; he'd want me to be happy." He nodded and walked out of my closet.

I miss you, Jason.

——— 2 hours later ———

We are heading out in about five minutes, meaning it is time to say my goodbyes, for now. We would be back in about a month. This whole trip is for us to figure out if we should merge the two packs, or if Matthew should hand his Alpha title to his Beta. He would be becoming the Alpha King and I would become the Luna Queen when we make a decision.

This trip is basically for me to look at his pack and see if they will be a good fit with my pack. If the wolves are to different, there might be a division in the pack if we choose to merge. It would not be good if the Royal Pack had division amongst themselves. The inner turmoil of the pack would eat it alive, and when a real enemy comes we would have a serious issue.

Matthew and I walk down the stairs into the living room where we are greeted by my family. My mom has a Tupperware container full of something she has cooked, which she will tell me "it's for the road."

"Well don't I feel so special" I mock with a hand placed on my chest. "Yeah, yeah, whatever." Michael rolls his eyes at me and wraps me in a hug. "I'm gonna miss you, Clover!" I squeezed him a little tighter. "Love you too, Bullseye!" Most of my family and friends started snickering; however, Matthew just looked confused. "Am I missing something? What's up with the weird nicknames?" Every burst out laughing again.

Bella is quick to tell the stories of how we got our nicknames. As she's telling the story I remember how I got mine like it was yesterday.

"Michael, I don't want to play truth or dare." I whined. "Oh well, Caleigh! Everyone else does! Don't be a party pooper." Michael scolded me. We were hanging out in the playroom in the pack house. All of the kids wanted to play truth or dare, except me. However, when Michael told me I was being a party pooper, I wanted to prove him wrong and prove I could be an excellent player.

"Fine but I'm going first!" I looked around the room and chose my first victim. "Claudia, truth or dare?" She looked shocked I had picked her first. "Um, truth." I nodded. "Is it true that you stole your dad's phone and took it to the play ground at school?" I asked her. She nodded her head yes.

After a couple more people went, it was Michaels turn. "Caleigh, truth or dare?" Michael asked. "Dare!" I said we a smug look in my face. "I dare you to go outside and eat a four leaf clover out of the yard!" He have me a smirk. "No! I'm not doing that!" No way in heck I was doing that. "You have to!" Moral of the story, I ate a four leaf clover and threw up after eating it.

Everyone was laughing at me after Bella finished the story. Michael was rolling on the floor. "I was 6! You know what! Since you think it is so funny, why don't we tell everyone how you got your nickname?" Michael shot up and stopped laughing real quick. Bella went into another story.

Michael, Jason, Bella, and I were all sitting in the archery field after school one afternoon. Jason had noticed a bow sitting over in the corner, and Michael and him thought it would be a good idea to play with it...

They shot it at the target a few times, and everything was fine; however, Michael lost his arrow back behind the target. He walked over to grab it, and Jason wasn't paying attention. He shot the arrow and he hit the center of the target. What no one realized until Michael started screaming, was that the arrow had went through the target and had pierced him in the butt! The medics had to be called out to the field, where the arrow was ripped out of his butt and they sewed him up.

Once again everyone was in a laughing fit. Matthew was so red I think he might have forgotten how to breathe. Once everyone had caught their breath, we said good bye to everyone else, and made our way to the limo. Matthew put my bags in the trunk, while I looked to see what my mom had packed us for lunch. "Ooo, she made us some potato soup!" I exclaimed. I felt the limo start up, and looked over to see Matthew doing some work.

It's going to be a long ride.
