CAIN'S POV

"Cain Bianchi" my mother called for me, her heels slowly tapping against the marble tiles, and exhaling cigar smoke

searching for me

i clutched my bleeding arm, trying my best to silence my fast paced breathing

"mio, where is your brother?" i heard her question him

i peeped through the small hole in the closet door

where i was hiding

he answered her by shrugging his shoulders

"do you know what this is?" she bent down towards the 12-year-old

"a knife" he replied, grabbing the blade

"mhm, find cain and use that on him. That will teach that little cagna to stop running from his punishments" she chuckled, gently petting his head and kissed his cheek

"i wish you were my only son" she looked at him in awe, and walked out the room

mio analyzed the knife, then looked forward

"cain?" he called out, walking closer to the closet

my heart thumping in my chest

"cain?" he said again, in arms reach with the closet

"cain" he yelled, opening the door to my hiding area

my eyes shot open, and i sat up

trying to recognize the unfamiliar room

a hospital

great

"cain?" mia said, concern crowding her tone

her hand caressing mine

i immediately embraced her, recovering from my own sleep

i've been having nightmares about my childhood since i was 18

"are you okay?" she said, breaking the short hug

i only sat back in the hospital bed, trying my best to catch my breath

"i'm gonna go get the nurse" she said, jogging out the room

it was only a moment before they came in the room

"hey honey, she told me you woke up" the nurse, said grabbing my arm and checking my blood pressure

"widen your eyes for me" she looked up at me, waiting for me to widen them

but i stayed still

i hate doctors

so fucking much

"oh uh- okay" she awkwardly laughed, looking over to mia

she then bent down, looking into my eyes

"his pupils are dilated and he is sweating, he most likely just had a nightmare" the nurse said, taking the band off my arm

"what's your name?" the nurse asked, leaning towards me with a smile

"read the clipboard" i mumbled, not wanting to speak with her

"oh right" she stood up straight, reading the clipboard

"Marino Romano, wow that's a nice name" she said, walking out the room

i snickered, after the door shut

"out of all the names my brothers could have chosen they chose Marino Romano" mia laughed, taking a picture of my fake name pasted on the door

"mia?" i looked up at her, her smile immediately dropping

"yea?" she said, averting her attention to me and lowering her phone

"do you want to visit your parents' graves?"

MIA'S POV

"you buried them? I said to cremate t-"

"you'd regret it" he said, looking forward

he's right

once again

"yes, i do"

i looked back up at him, and he was facing me

damn, i might have jumped a little

that scared me a bit

"did you just flinch? You know what never mind" he chuckled, looking down at his hands

and i laughed with him

and the nurse walked back in

her hair was dark and light brown, obviously dyed

her skin was flawless, she wasn't short but she wasn't tall

her curls were perfectly draped over her shoulders

and her uniform fit her body perfectly

emphasis on the perfectly

damn.

"So marino what are you interested in?" she said, sitting on the side of his bed

i bit my lip, visibly upset with her behavior

"you have 3 seconds to get the hell off my foot" he raised his voice at her

"you're hilarious", she laughed

her laugh was high pitched, and cutesy

wannabe cutesy

and she got up

she hovered over him

"You know if you're inter-"

"i'm not interested" he said, pushing her body away from him

and she stumbled a little

"you'll catch on sooner or later, bello" she said, with an extremely broken italian accent

cain looked up at her, disgusted

"i looked it up on google, your form said you speak italian" she spun on her heel, and left the room

"women are so fucking weird" he said, huffing and looked over to me

"yea you too" he chuckled
