"there's no way."

"are you are you didn't mix up the blood tests?" i asked

"100% sure" she crossed her legs, leaning on the counter behind her

"this is a common reaction to the news, try to not freak yourself out too much." she said, slowly removing my ivs

"please come back in a couple weeks for your first ultrasound." she smiled, helping me change from my hospital gown

i opened the room door, to see cain waiting there for me

he looked over at me, searching my eyes for my current emotion

"you doing okay?" he asked, oblivious to the news i just received

"hm? me? yea i am." i awkwardly laughed

he chuckled, walking further down the hospital hallway

"aren't we leaving?" i furrowed my eyebrows

"we're going the wrong way." i pointed behind us

"you're gonna leave elena waiting?" he asked

i widened my eyes

"she's conscious?" i yelled so loud, that people started to look over at us

he covered my mouth, walking down the hallway

she made it

i sighed the longest breath of relief

he opened her room door, and i saw her sitting up, and eating some food

and dante was beside her

i ran inside, immediately hugging her

and she was hugging me so tight, i couldn't breathe

"i'm sorry i didn't-" she hushed me by placing a finger on my lip

"don't be, i got this badass scar from it." she said, lifting her shirt to show me her scar

i felt at ease again

until i remembered the news i just received

it's not that i wasn't happy

i was nervous

how would cain react to the news?

he has told me he doesn't want to be like his father

so he will be happy, right?

"mia, you okay? You like zoned out for a couple seconds." she waved her hand in front of my face

"oh, sorry" i awkwardly looked at dante and cain

then back at her

they can tell something is wrong

"maybe she needs some rest, she did just get discharged" dante said, looking over at cain

"no, i'm fine. I want to stay with elena." i shook my hands

"you said that before going into hibernation a couple hours ago." he snapped back

making elena and dante laugh in response

and i bit my lip, to contain my laughter

"don't worry, they are discharging me tonight. I'll be there." elena gave me the reassurance i needed

but i didn't give it to her when she needed it

i smiled, nodding my head

then left the room with cain

"hungry?"

"always" i replied, rubbing my thigh

he changed the car to the parking gear

ordering our food online

should i tell him?

yes

"so cain" i playfully punched his arm

he turned off his phone, looking at me

his face completely neutral, and an eyebrow raised

he is so fucking hot

not the time mia

i cleared my throat

"so, my friend is pregnant."

i chickened out

"what friend?" he chuckled

"wow, never mind" i rolled my eyes, turning my back to him

"i'm just playing, what's going on?" he held my hand

"well" i turned my body towards him

"she is scared to tell her boyfriend that she is pregnant, how should she tell him?"

he tilted his head, furrowing his brows

"well, she should just be honest. Any real man would step up to the fatherhood pedestal." he said, then got out of the car to grab our food

closing the door behind him

i sighed, rubbing my forehead

"that was a stupid cover up mia." i said to myself

when we entered the house earlier it was to the same regular evening

my nonna and nonno were watching some romantic show, and my brothers were no where to be found

it's gotten a bit late now

and i'm still trying to find a way to tell cain the news 

his birthday is tomorrow

but he thinks i don't know

and it's the perfect time to tell him the news

i clapped my hands together, satisfied with my plan

i ran over to the gift box i had prepared for his birthday

burying the test i took after coming back home from the hospital, under the jewelry box

you know, i still had my doubts..

"ugh, is this too cliché?" i mumbled to myself

i took the test out of the box, closing the lid back

and hiding it

i'll give it more thought later
