A/N: Hi everyone! Sorry for the inactivity here on this account, but I promise that I will do a better job in updating this book.

Okay, so, now we have that out of the way, let's about this Lose You to Love Me by Selena Gomez. For those of you who don't know who she is, let me help you with that.

Her full name is Selena Marie Gomez.

She is 29 years old.

She was born on July 22, 1992, in Grand Prairie, Texas.

She was named after Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla who died in 1995.

Gomez got her first acting break on the show Barney & Friends. She appeared in thirteen episodes from 2002 to 2004.

Selena has a tattoo of the word Rare on her neck.

Gomez then got her breakthrough with Disney Channel appearing in Hannah Montana as pop star named Mikayla before she landed her own show called Wizards of Waverly Place.

She had her own band called Selena Gomez & The Scene. They got together in 2008 and would later go on to release three albums before disbanding in 2012.

Gomez became a solo artist in 2013. Her studio albums Stars Dance (2013), Revival (2015) and Rare (2020) have all debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Her song "Lose You to Love Me" became her first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2019.

And if you still don't know who she is, she voiced the character of Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania movies from 2012 to 2022.

So, now that we've got all of that covered, here are the lyrics to Lose You to Love Me:

[Verse 1]

You promised the world and I fell for it

I put you first and you adored it

Set fires to my forest

And you let it burn

Sang off-key in my chorus

'Cause it wasn't yours

I saw the signs and I ignored it

Rose-colored glasses all distorted

Set fire to my purpose

And I let it burn

You got off on the hurtin'

When it wasn't yours, yeah

[Pre-Chorus]

We'd always go into it blindly

I needed to lose you to find me

This dancing was killing me softly

I needed to hate you to love me, yeah

[Chorus]

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

I needed to lose you to love me, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

I needed to lose you to love me

[Verse 2]

I gave my all and they all know it

Then you tore me down and now it's showing

In two months, you replaced us

Like it was easy

Made me think I deserved it

In the thick of healing, yeah

[Pre-Chorus]

We'd always go into it blindly

I needed to lose you to find me

This dancing was killing me softly

I needed to hate you to love me, yeah

[Chorus]

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

I needed to lose you to love me, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

I needed to lose you to love me

[Bridge]

You promised the world and I fell for it

I put you first and you adored it

Set fires to my forest

And you let it burn

Sang off-key in my chorus

[Chorus]

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

I needed to hate you to love me, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

I needed to lose you to love me

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

[Outro]

And now the chapter is closed and done

To love, love, yeah

To love, love, yeah

To love, yeah

And now it's goodbye, it's goodbye for us

Lose You to Love Me is a self-love anthem and talks a lot about heartbreak as well. This song is rumored to be about her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber and their rocky relationship.

In the first verse, where she sings:

Sang off-key in my chorus

'Cause it wasn't yours

Selena could be referencing to Justin singing off-key in a chorus from an unreleased song of hers or that he sang off-key in the "chorus of her life."

And in the lyrics:

I saw the signs and I ignored it

Rose-colored glasses all distorted

Gomez is talking about how we tend to ignore all of signs and how your partner can show his/her true colors in a relationship. This was probably what she was experiencing when her and Justin were a couple.

But the second verse is where Gomez really bares her heart out singing:

And in two months, you replaced us

Like it was easy

Made me think I deserved it

In the thick of healing, yeah

Justin and Selena's romance ended in March 2018. Then, Bieber quickly rebounded to Hailey Baldwin less than three months after his breakup from Gomez and married Hailey by September 2018.

Obviously, this really hurt Selena when she heard the news of Justin and Hailey's engagement at the time and how he was able to move on so quickly while she was still trying to heal from their breakup.

The pre-chorus and chorus is all about the singer coming to a place where she has learned to love herself after all of the heartache that she had been through.

I absolutely love this song by Selena and the message behind it all. The lyrics and the production for this song are beautiful and really tends to pull you at your heartstrings.

So, do you guys think that Lose You to Love Me is about Justin Bieber or not?
