As requested by @AIK0WRITES, today I'll be talking about where to get overlays, and how to use them!

Firstly, for me, I use a wide variety of textures for overlays. Gradients, light textures, heavily blended textures, I use anything that I have. And of course as you can see from a couple past chapters, my favourite overlay is the blue crystal texture by DeviantArt user xnienke. I can use it on practically any cover, no matter the style. I just love its versatility.

Honestly speaking, anything can be an overlay. Sometimes if I find that the background of an edit I have is too light, I'll find a random texture I saved and set it above the background, and set its blending mode to 'overlay'. Then I'd erase some parts of it that are too bright/dark, and change the colour scheme of it to help fit the kind of graphic I'm going for.

Here's an example of what I mean.

As you can see, I used two different kinds of textures as overlays. Thanks to them, the background is now more darker and helps to set the tone of the story better!

As previously spoken in the first request, textures can also be used over the render and text, to help set the mood of the graphic better. Let me just say, it is very hard to see a graphic of mine that doesn't use xnienke's crystal texture. I highly suggest downloading it and try using it yourself! It's known as 'Texture 105' on their profile.

Anything can be used as an overlay, you just have to be smart about where to use them. Save a bunch of textures and experiment around with them! It's a very fun way of learning yourself how to best use textures as overlays.

That's it for this chapter, I hope that it helped! Thanks for reading this and have a great day/night!
