Am I Worth Your Time?

Part 9

"Let's take some turns on the half pipe" Caden said as we walked into the skate park

I wasn't really paying attention as I was waiting for Dylan to catch up so I could hold her hand

"Dude hurry up! She can walk on her own" Caden shouted over. I ignored him and took Dylan's hand as we walked together

He rolled his eyes and got on his board "Don't get jealous twin, it doesn't look good on you." Dylan said kissing her brothers cheek as she took a seat to watch us skate

We all laughed as we walked into the house, but once we all looked up and saw my dad, the laughter ran out of the house.

"What are you doing here dad?" I said taking a big gulp

"I figured you were here." He said standing up, wiping the sweat on his palms onto his pants

When I didn't say anything back he took that as to keep talking "I miss you Toby" he said looking me up and down

"I see you've been taking care of yourself" he said with a smile. It's been no more than 3 days.

"Dad if this is your way of getting me to come back, then it's not working." I said

"We'll be in the kitchen. I'm guessing that's where our parents are too." Dylan said pushing Caden out of the room

He huffed and looked down before looking back at me "Look I had a talk with Alice and it won't happen again. We'll be the family we were before her...just with her now."

When I didn't say anything he kept going "I will never not except you for who you are. I've told you that and I'll continue to tell you that and show you kiddo. Just please, please give me another chance. Y-you don't have to come home tonight, but I'd really like if you were home tomorrow night." He said. His eyes were so soft and vulnerable "Please Toby" he begged

I took my hat off and scratched my head as I looked around "Yeah, yeah ok" I said putting my hat back on

He smiled with a little chuckle and came and gave me a big bear hug lifting me up off the ground "That's my boy" he said as a joke.

He's one of the only people who's allowed to refer to me as male besides Rad, but he rarely does and a few of my friends.It really just turned into a joke once I wanted to identify as female, but my father and brother were the only two allowed to joke about it. Now I allow some of my friends, but that's it.

"Ok dad" I said with a chuckle as he placed me back on my feet and then put me in a head lock and nuggied me "Dad! The hair!" I said getting out of his grip to fix my nicely placed curls

"Sorry I just missed you kiddo" he said with a smile

I relaxed and smiled "I missed you too dad" I said giving him another hug

He grabbed my hat "I think you'd appreciate this one a little better" he said grabbing a different one out of his inside coat pocket

It was his favorite hat he gave me a few years back that I had thrown back to him during the scene in the house a few days ago

I snatched it out of his hand and quickly pulled it on "Oh how I've missed you" I said talking to the hat which got a laugh out of my dad

"And one more thing" he said grabbing my phone out of his pocket "I think you'll need this back"

"Thanks dad" I said with a soft smile

"Are you guys done because dinners ready" Caden said coming in to inform us before walking back to the kitchen

"He's a real pain in the ass" my dad said

"You're telling me" I said

We went into the kitchen to help set the table then we all sat around and talked for what felt like hours until my dad said he had to get home

"I'll walk you out dad" I said walking with him

Once we were outside I gave him another hug

"Uh I'll talk to her I really will" he said talking about Alice.

I shook my head and looked down

"Also um uh...you got-" he cleared his throat "I can't believe I'm about to ask this to my angel, but do you have protection?"

"Dad!" I said shocked he asked me that

"What? You can conceive and I need to make sure you and Dylan are being safe" he explained

"No, dad Dylan and I aren't having sex. We aren't even dating" I told him

"Alright ok that's good I guess" he said looking around awkwardly. You could definitely tell where I got that trait. "If you do I can always get you som-"

"Dad ,please stop" I begged him

"Alright that's fine" he said

"I'll see you tomorrow" I said

"I love you kiddo" he said giving me a kiss on the head and hugging me

I went back inside to see everyone had disappeared I'm guessing they all just called it a night, so I walked up and knocked on Dylan's door "come in" I heard faintly

"Hi" I said softly peeking my head in the door

"Hi" she said with a smile

"What're you doing?" I asked trying to lighten the mood

"Song writing" she said simply putting away the little notebook and coming up to me. She took my hands into hers and softly kissed my lips "How was it?"

"I think it went well. I really missed my dad" I said honestly

"So does that mean you're going back home?" She asked me

"Yeah, but I'm not following those stupid rules so you're allowed over anytime you want through the front door or the window, your pick" I said in a joking manner which got a laugh out of her

"For now do you wanna watch a movie before bed?" Dylan asked

"Yeah sure. Let me go change first" I said

"No need" she said

I was a little confused till she got on her tippy toes and took my hat "I'll help" she said

She grabbed the bottom of my shirt signaling to take it off. I lifted my arms to let her take it off and then she went to unbuckle my belt

"I-I got this part" I said with a nervous laugh "Y-you know I can just change in the bathroom. It would uh only be a minute" I said getting nervous

"Is someone a little shy?" She said ghosting her lips over mine "hurry up and change so we can cuddle and go to bed" she said turning around and hopping on her bed

I gulped and quickly stripped my pants and put my sweatpants on. I could feel Dylan staring holes into my body

I walked over to her bed and slipped in beside her. She scooted over to me and rested her head on my chest and tangled our legs together

"This feels right" I whispered into the air

She looked up to me and placed a chaste kiss "Good because you're growing on me" she said with a smile

I smiled back "How bout that movie?" I asked
