A few weeks have gone by since I've started dating Dabi and everything's been going perfect. You wouldn't guess it by looking at him but Dabi's the perfect boyfriend. He's kind, understanding, gentle, patient, and he's really good at making me feel loved and valid. He's everything I could ever want in a partner, he's just truly perfect. Tonight he invited me out to go on our first date. He knew a place that was run by people that allowed heroes and villains inside as long as there wasn't any conflict.
As I was getting ready for my date I got a call from Rumi. I sighed, not wanting to focus on anything but Dabi tonight, and put the phone to my ear. "What do you want Rumi?"
"Wow, what a rude way to greet your best friend." She said, pretending she was offended. I rolled my eyes. "Anyways, are you busy right now? There's a movie I wanted to go see and wanted you to come with me."
"Sorry, I can't tonight, I have plans with somebody." I replied, putting the phone on speaker and placing it on my nightstand so I can finish getting dressed.
"You have plans? Kei, you have no other friends than me. Who can you possibly be going out with?"
"Rude, I have plenty of other friends, you just don't know them. And for your information I have a date that I'm getting ready for." I replied, buttoning my shirt.
"I'm sorry, did I hear you right? You, Keigo Takami, have a date? The man that doesn't like being social?" She questioned, partly laughing.
"Yes, I've been seeing him for a few weeks. I really like this guy Rumi, this date's important to me." I had a serious but soft tone to my voice.
"Good for you Kei, I'll leave you alone to get ready then. Have fun. I fully expect to meet him and these other friends you claim to have." She said before hanging up the phone. I wish I could tell her this, but she's probably never going to meet them. Rumi's nice and understanding but she has a grudge with the league since AFO killed her mom. I don't think she'd be very happy to find out who my friends were.
I stopped thinking about Rumi and finished getting ready, heading out to meet up with Dabi at the base. I walked in to Shigaraki, Toga, and Twice talking on the couch, "Hey Hawks, Dabi's still getting ready if you want to join us for a few minutes." Shigaraki said, calling me over. I walked over to them and sat next to Shigaraki. He instantly leaned over and started whispering in my ear, "I've never seen Dabi this happy over something, don't break his heart. If I find out you do anything to hurt him any other threat I've ever made in my entire life would sound like heaven compared to what I'd do to you if you hurt him."
"I'd never hurt Dabi, I really like him!" I replied, jumping to my defense. "I can promise you I would never even think of breaking his heart, I really care about him." Shigaraki looked a little skeptical but shrugged it off, changing the subject to something a little more cheerful. After talking for a few more minutes I felt arms wrap around my shoulders and somebody kiss my cheek. I looked back and saw Dabi leaning over the couch.
"Hey Birdie, you ready to go?" Dabi asked, leaning his head on my shoulder. I nodded and we got up and walked out the front door. As soon as we were outside the base Dabi took my hand, interlacing our fingers. I look over at him and took in what he was wearing. He had on skin tight black skinny jeans with a chain hanging from the belt loops, boots that went up to half way up his calf, and a black dress shirt that was tucked into his jeans. The top button undone. "You like what you see? You've been staring at me for quite a while"
I felt my cheeks go hot, "I- You just look really nice, I like the outfit you picked." I replied shyly. Dabi stopped walking and pulled me into a tight hug, kissing the top of my head.
"Why thank you. I have to say Keigo, you clean up pretty nicely yourself. Never thought you'd look this good in dress clothes." I was wearing a loose white dress shirt, black dress pant, and black dress shoes. I didn't know how formal I was supposed to get and kind of paniced, grabbing whatever I thought was casual enough.
"I'm not overdressed am I?" I asked, slightly anxious.
"No," he began, he took my hand and starting walking again, "the place is kind of fancy but not the kind of fancy you'd wear a full blown tux to. It's a nice place, just not fancy." We walked for about 20 minutes before we got there. Once we got inside the people asked for our reservation, Dabi said a name I didn't recognize and they led us to a table. Once they gave us our menus I looked up at Dabi.
"Who's Touya?" I asked. He looked startled, debating on wether or not he should tell me or not. "If you don't want to tell me you don't have to, I was just curious."
He sighed and looked at me, a soft smile on his face. "It's alright, I trust you enough. Touya's my real name. My full name is Touya Todoroki."
"Like, the missing Todoroki kid Touya Todoroki? The one that died in a fire 6 years ago Touya Todoroki?" I asked, stunned.
"Yeah, that's me. Except, I obviously didn't die. I just faked my death." He sounded so calm about it, "Don't tell anybody about this, alright? I trust you with this secret but not anybody else. The only other person that knows is Shigaraki. Outside of you and him nobody knows and I'd like to keep it that way."
"Of course, it's not my secret to tell. But don't you want to see your siblings? Imagine how happy they'd be to know you're alive. You've told me about your siblings before, you sounded really close."
He sighed, "That was a while ago Kei. It's like I said before, they probably already forgot I existed. Besides, if people knew the missing Todoroki kid was Dabi from the League of Villains that would put me under too much publicity. I'll pass." I looked at him with sad eyes, it really hurt to hear he didn't want to reconnect with his family. Though I understood where he was coming from.
We sat there in an awkward silence for a while, neither of us knowing what to say. My brain was running in circles, he told me a big secret of his so I felt that I should tell him one in return. My biggest secret could make or break our relationship, I should tell him before we get too deep. I took a deep breath and looked up at him, "Hey uh, Dabi? I have something I should probably tell you."
