You sat on your bed, but not like a normal person. Your legs where on the bed while the rest of you was on the edge. You were looking at everything upside down and laughing to yourself, it was funny. It was funny until a certain butler knocked on your open door. You sat up and turned to face him.
"What do you want Mr. Stalker Michaelis." You said, trying to sound mean but you just ended up laughing. Sebastian looked at you, raising an eyebrow.
"Lady Elizabeth was wondering where you were." Sebastian bowed. You sighed as you headed for the door, that's when you remembered you took your eye patch off. You sighed as you jumped over to your bed, put the eye patch on and walked over to the mirror, fixing your hair that was now a bit static. Once you finished you noticed that Sebastian was waiting by the door.
"You don't have to wait, I can find my own way around the Midford manor perfectly fine. Why don't you go and have a day off like the rest of the servants?" You asked as you walked out of your room, Sebastian still following you.
"I apologize, we seem to have started off on bad terms." Sebastian said from behind you. You stopped, almost causing Sebastian to walk into you. You turned to look at him.
"You think?" You asked, sarcasm dripping from your voice like venom. Sebastian didn't look surprised at your response. You sighed again and carried on walking.
"Look, Michaelis, when you want to know I exist, you know where to find me. When you feel like you can even look after someone and call yourself a father, you know where I am. For now I think it would be best if we tried to avoid each other as much as possible and act how we're supposed to. Me, the noble and you, the butler." You finished as you walked down the stairs. Sebastian bowed slightly and you could practically hear the smirk.
"As you wish." and silence only followed after that. You walked into the kitchen and saw that all the servants were gone except for the chef.
"Where did everyone go?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.
"We got a little raise and are allowed to go to town to buy stuff for ourselves." The Chef smiled as he cleared up quickly.
"Lizzy?" You asked. The Chef nodded. Every time it was someone's birthday, that was important to anyone in the Midford manor, Elizabeth let the servants have days off, and since it was your birth mothers birthday, it was no different. You rolled your eyes, probably looking stupid with just one eye on show. You walked into the garden, where Sebastian, Ciel, Elizabeth and Jack were. Ciel and Elizabeth were sitting at a table, Jack standing behind Elizabeth and Sebastian behind Ciel. The sight made your blood boil. Elizabeth already had your fathers fake smiles and his hugs, she already had the perfect eyes and her 'perfect' fiance, she already had the perfect family and her perfect title. Why did she feel the need to steal your butler too? Where was her maid? You almost screamed, you felt like ripping someones hair out, but instead you ripped your eye patch off, throwing it to the ground. You obviously made some noise because Ciel noticed you, which caused everyone else to notice you. They all looked at you. You glared at them, not caring if Ciel saw your eyes or not.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you. Please, continue." You said, keeping all the anger out of your voice, but showing it in your eyes as you walked back in. You didn't normally lose your anger so easily, but Elizabeth had everything, and she still wanted more. She got what she wanted while you got nothing. You walked back into your room, still leaving the door open. There was no point closing it because you never got any privacy anyways. There was always someone coming to visit or you needing to go somewhere, and when there wasn't, there was always someone knocking on your door. You just flopped onto your bed, burying your head into the pillow. You screamed, hoping the pillow had blocked your voice.
"Are you alright?" You heard a soft, quiet voice say. You looked up and saw Elizabeth's maid. That pushed you over the edge. Elizabeth didn't need your butler around, she had her maid here already. You gave her a fake smile.
"Yes, thank you for asking. Lady Elizabeth is outside if you are wondering. If you would like, the other servants have gone to town with extra money to spend. You may go too, if you wish." You said. The maid's eyes lit up as she bowed.
"Thank you Mistress." She said as she ran down the corridor. You let your smile fade as you resumed your screaming into pillow activity. There was another knock on your door.
"What do you want no-" You started, thinking it was Sebastian again. It was Ciel.
"Come in." You said, sitting up. Ciel sat on the end of the bed, closing the door behind him. You knew he came up here to ask what was wrong, only for his title's sake.
"She get's everything. The eyes, the family, my only remaining family's affections and now my butler too. Oh and the fiance." You said, motioning towards Ciel.
"Sebastian is as surprised as we all are." Ciel stated calmly, after thinking for a bit. You nodded. You were now hugging your knees, stopping the tears from falling.
"I'm only in this manor because Elizabeth wanted me to stay." You said after a while, breaking the silence. Ciel looked at you. You felt his eyes on you and you looked up, looking into his blue eye. You automatically felt self conscious with your different coloured eyes. you looked down again.
"Why do you hide your eyes from people?" Ciel asked, his voice somewhat softer than usual.
"They aren't bright like Lizzy's." You said, a few tears escaping. Ciel's hand was on your cheek. He was tense at the contact but then relaxed as he wiped the tears away with his thumb. You looked into his eye again and you felt lost, like you were drowning in that blue eye. You immediately understood why Elizabeth loved him. Ciel was just one more thing you couldn't have. One more thing Elizabeth had. One more thing to make you envy her more. The silence, and your thoughts were disturbed when someone knocked on the door.
"Come in." You said as Ciel moved his hand away from your face. Jack walked in.
"Is everything okay Young Mistress?" Jack asked.
"Jack, you are my butler. From now on you only take orders from me." You said, feeling more confident. Jack looked surprised at your statement but soon recovered, bowing.
"Yes, Your Majesty." (Okay, I spent a solid 5 minutes choosing between Highness and Majesty. This was still a rushed decision.) Jack smirked. You and Ciel got up as Jack led the way as you and Ciel walked behind.
"Thank you." You whispered to Ciel. He looked slightly surprised.
"For what?" He asked as he looked at you. You gave him a genuine smile, unlike the one you gave Elizabeth's maid.
"For at least pretending you care." You said in a soft voice. He didn't say anything as you looked away, letting Jack do his job. Once you, Ciel and Jack were outside, Elizabeth greeted you with a hug.
"[Y/N] I was worried about you." Elizabeth almost shouted in your ear. You smiled the biggest smile you could and hugged her back. Sebastian and Ciel saw through the act, but said nothing. You looked at Ciel and gave him a small smile. You looked at Sebastian and saw he was smiling too. Elizabeth let go of you and looked into your eyes. She smiled a small smile once she notice that you weren't covering up your eyes. She sat back down and so did Ciel. You were about to leave when Jack pulled a seat out for you.
"Young Mistress." He bowed slightly. You smiled and sat down, joining in the conversation. For once you didn't feel like you didn't belong.
