Someone who makes the pain worthwhile
without standing atop a pedestal.
He is not perfect
but he is perfect for me.
Your idea of someone
will never be the same
as their idea of themself
will never be the same
as someone else's perception.
He sees his mistakes
as proof he doesn't deserve love.
I see his mistakes
as misguided decisions.
I see my mistakes
as proof I don't deserve love.
He sees my mistakes
for what they are.
We are not perfect
but we are perfect for each other.
Finding someone who eases your pain,
whose pain you can ease in return.
They're not easy to find,
not easy to hold onto,
but it is oh so worth it.
The person who's perfect for you
may not be perfect for themself.
They don't have to be.
Neither do you.
