Chapter Thirty-Two

Louis

Once Annalise and Jack have left, Harry and I decide to get Liam and Niall and go check on Zayn. Paul told Harry that Zayn's conscious now, he just can't talk.

They had to insert a tube, to help him breathe.

It's mad how alcohol can do that much to someone, make things that bad. At least he won't have any permanent damage.

Harry, Flynn, and I head to Robin's room to get the others.

Liam meets us at the door.

“Paul just called me” he says. “I'm going to see Zayn.”

“Us too” Harry says.

“I don't want to leave Robin alone” Niall says, looking a bit anxious.

Robin hits him on the arm.

“Go, you dumbass” she tells him, with a rather threatening glare.

“I can stay here, anyway” Flynn says. “I don't even know Zayn.”

“You don't know me, either” Robin points out.

“I don't really think now's a great time to meet Zayn” Flynn replies. “And you seem cool.”

Robin grins.

“Welcome to my evil lair” she says, stroking an invisible goatee.

Flynn laughs, dropping into the seat next to her bed.

They'll get on perfectly.

The rest of us head off to see Zayn.

The band is about to be together again.

I just wish the circumstances were better.

Paul is outside Zayn's room when we get there. He's talking to Zayn's doctor by the doorway to Zayn's room.

None of us are eager to interrupt, so we stand down the hall a little and wait.

Also eavesdrop a little.

“I don't know” the doctor is saying. “It's difficult for us to take his word for it. Many patients lie about this sort of thing.”

“If he says it wasn't a suicide attempt, it wasn't a suicide attempt” Paul replies.
