Part 16

*PETERS POV*

I wake in mine and kates room and feel a weight on my chest, I look down and see Kate resting on my chest and holding the covers close to her "morning babe" I say moving a strand of hair out of her face, she makes a (not sexual) groan before looking up to me "hey" she says before leaning in for a kiss "sleep well?" I say gently pushing her off myself so I can get dressed, I get dressed as well as Kate and we go downstairs "morning" Kate says before going to make herself a coffee, I look around and see that everyone looks like hell "you lot look like crap" I say before looking at mom and aunt lena who look perfectly fine "thanks captain obvious, how come you don't have a hangover?" clint says emptying his insides into the sink "I have a higher metabolism since the bite, the affects of alcohol and drugs don't work on me as easily as you" I say as Kate comes back with 2 cups of coffee, hands me one and sits next to me "what about you?" Sam says directed it towards Kate "I only had 1 or 2 drinks, how many did you have?" she says sipping her drink "6" he says as ned, mj and Shuri walk in the room "hey everyone" ned says surprisingly not freaking out despite the fact he's in the same room as the avengers, guardians of the galaxy and a king of an African nation "hey ned" I say raising my hand in a small wave, he grabs his jacket before leaving the compound and saying goodbye. Mj sits on the chair beside the sofa that Me and Kate are sat on, Shuri sits on her lap and presses a kiss to her forehead, me and Kate look at mj who mouths a quick "thank you" to us before talking to Shuri "what do you feel like doing today?" Kate says resting her head on my shoulder "we could go out and hang out" I suggest as Kate pushes herself off me and stands up "sounds good, give me 5" she says going upstairs to freshen herself up, I take the opportunity to put some clean clothes on which consist of jeans, a shirt of 2 lego bricks connected with one saying "lego" and the other saying "no" it's dumb but I think it's funny and a black hoodie.

I sit on our bed as I wait for Kate to get herself ready, I watch a few videos on my phone before seeing the door open to reveal Kate with a towel over her "can you pass me the clothes on my side of the bed please" she says as I put my phone down, grab her clothes and pass the over to her "thanks" I give her a thumbs up and a kiss before she quickly gets dressed.

After we had both gotten dressed we left the compound and went out to the city, we had no plans for the day but we wanted to get out since we hadn't had a date that hadn't been interrupted in a while "is there anything you wanted when you were younger but now know you can't have?" Kate says as we walk through the crowded manhattan streets "I always wanted siblings but after finding out that my mom was natasha romanoff and that she's incapable of having any more kids I lost hope that my dream could become reality" I say as we stop by a hot dog stand and get 2 "that sucks" she says before taking a bite from her hot dog, we go to sit in the park we sit just enjoying each others company while occasionally making a dumb joke "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Kate asks holding my hand, honestly I dont know but I knew what I'd like in an ideal world "to be with the woman I love, still being spider man, get a semi stable side job maybe a couple kids" I say the last bit quieter but she knew exactly what I said "that sounds nice" she says pecking my cheek, we stand up from the bench after a while and start walking around aimlessly. I feel my spider sense go off and look around not quite sure of what was the danger. Kate notices and clicks her fingers in my face "Pete you good?, is it your sense thing?" I nod and continue looking around, I was still confused until I see a load of fire trucks drive by with the sirens blaring "this way" I say grabbing kates hand and dragging her.

*KATES POV*

Pete guides me till we see a building on fire "you wouldn't happen to have brought your suit?" I say looking at him he shakes his head and I let out a small sigh with a slight laugh underneath "do you see anyone?" he asks, I look around and see that no one can see us "no, why?" he grabs my waist and starts climbing up the wall "how's this gonna help?" I feel his fingers intertwined with mine "you'll see" he slowly starts walling backwards "Pete what's the plan?" I say as he stops "you'll see" not helping Pete, he starts running and tells me to start running too, I run as fast as we approach the edge of the building, he jumps flawlessly onto the roof of the building, I leap but catch my leg on the edge of the roof, I trip over the wall and start falling, Pete sees this and grabs my arm and pulls me up "thanks" I say kissing his cheek "no problem" we enter the building via the stairwell that usually leads to the roof, I feel the smoke catch in my lungs and I let out a slight cough "you good?" Pete says looking at me "go help the people, ill catch up" I say before regaining my bearings and looking around for anyone whose trapped "help somebody help!" I could make out a young boys name and look around to see the source, I make my way to him and see he's on a very fragile plank of wood "reach out your hand ill grab you" I say inching slowly closer "I-I cant, I'm sca-scared" he says with tears pooling in his eyes "hey buddy, it's fine, wanna know a secret?" he nods slowly wiping the tears from his face "I'm absolutely terrified about this, every part of me wants to get out as soon as possible but I'm not planning on leaving till I know your safe" I say which makes him stand a bit closer "when we get our of here how bout I buy you an ice-cream or something?" he smiles a bit before coming closer for me to hold "you OK?" I say looking at the kid whose holding onto my waist for dear life "y-yeah" he says as I start backing away, I feel the floor beneath me creak and snap but as long as it stays up I'm good "Kate!, you OK?" I hear petes voice ftom the opposite side of the building "I'm fine, you!?" I say putting the boy down and instruct him to climb through the window onto the fire escape, I turn around and see a elderly woman surrounded by flames "hold on!" I yell before jumping down to the woman "you OK?" I say and seeing a sharp plank of wood straight through her leg "don't answer that" I deadpan before coming up with an idea "I'm gonna remove the wood from your leg and then carry you our of here OK?" she gives me a terrified look and a pained "ok" before closing her eyes in preperation "on 3, 1-2....3!" i grab her leg and start pulling it out from the sharp wood, I remove it and wrap the womans arm around my shoulder in support "now, we get out of here" I say dragging her to the exit, I look to the frail woman to my side and see her start to pass out "don't pass out, your fine, you'll be ok" I say kicking the door open and laying her next to the firemen "th-th-th" I hear the woman say trying to speak but kept snagging on her words "miss, you OK?" I say before she collapses, I am pulled back by pete whose holding onto me as I try to squirm out of his grip "let me go!, let me go!" I feel tears fall knowing this is the first person I was the direct cause of their death, I try getting out of his grip but he holds even tighter, after we are far from the scene I feel Pete drop to his knees while holding me in a tight hug" shhh, it's OK, it's ok" he says wiping the tears from my face "n-no its not, I murdered that woman, it may have not been directly me but I'm still responsible for their death!, I can't live with myself" I say looking at his face  "Kate, listen, listen to me, there are things in life that are enevitible death is one of them, but if you can't move on and accept it then there's no point to live, your the reason I get up every morning because I know how short our time is and I know I need to spend as much time with the ones I love before I go, that woman lived their life, and I know that they wouldn't want you mourning for the rest of your life, she'd want you happy and able to move on" my emotions get to me and I run off I need some time on my own as much as I need petes touch I also need a place I can greive before coming back to the compound, I send Pete a quick message saying "I need some time alone and "somewhat" peaceful until I come back to the compound and become the woman you fell in love with again, I'll miss you so much but I'll see you when I'm ready x" my phone notifies me that he's seen the message, I run to Jack's and run up to my old room, the fimilier smell of my childhood comes wafting in as I collapse on the bed and cry myself to sleep.

*PETERS POV*

I see kates message but have no words so I start heading back to the compound. After arriving I go to my room collapse on mine and kates bed and reach into my pockets to grab a small black box with a small gold bracelet I bought that had an arrow connecting either side, I put it on my side table before grabbing all of kates things, I put them in the closet and put a note saying "don't touch kates stuff" I hear a knock at my door and hear Tony's voice "kid, can I come in?" he says as I slog over and open the door "hey" I say in a groggy voice "what's wrong?" he says walking in and sitting on my bed "I-its nothing, I-I really don't want to talk about it, please go" I feel tears for from behind my eyes "I-okay" he tries protesting but I stare into his soul and he shuts up before leaving, I drop onto my bed again and start crying, I occasionally hear voices from my door, mainly mom or aunt lena's but I don't answer I need to be left alone before I do something stupid, I end up falling asleep with a emptiness I haven't felt since before me and Kate got together.
