(Y/N)'s POV

Humans and Orcs have been enemies with each other for decades. The conflict soon turned into a full blown war. Almost every adult, both man and woman were drafted on the human side to fight. After almost five years the death tolls on both sides were high, but we were able to make peace and sign a treaty. Unfortunately, my parents didn't make it back which left me in charge of taking care of my five siblings who I was making breakfast for right now.

(Y/N): Food's ready.

The five came into the kitchen. First was Mindy(14), the second was the twins Alex and Sarah(10), lastly was Nora(17) who was holding Mark(6).

Nora: Thanks for making breakfast.

(Y/N): You're welcome.

Everyone sat down at the table and started eating.

(Y/N): Ok everyone, quick family meeting while we are all here.

Alex: What's up?

Sarah: Is something wrong?

(Y/N): Once again it's my turn to do patrol.

Mark: Why?

Mindy: How long is the patrol?

(Y/N): It's my job as a huntsman buddy. This one's two weeks.

Sarah: Why so long?

(Y/N): You know that there aren't many huntsmen left after the war so the ones that remain have to take longer shifts.

Alex: But we have a peace treaty, so we don't have to worry about Orc attacks anymore.

(Y/N): I know. There's a lot of stuff in the woods that we keep the village safe from so I need to go. With that said Nora is in charge till I get back. Be good and do your chores.

Nora: Alright guys say goodbye then off to the schoolhouse.

Mindy: Bye. I love you.

Alex: Be safe.

Sarah: Promise to come back.

(Y/N): I promise.

Sarah: Good.

Mark: Bye (y/n).

Mark said as he hugged my legs.

(Y/N): Bye buddy.

Nora and I watched as the kids headed off for school.

Nora: Two weeks?

(Y/N): I know I don't like it much either, but maybe I can kill a deer while I'm out there. Then we won't have to worry about meat for a while.

Nora: That's all well and good, but we need you here with us. If you haven't noticed, you're basically the father figure around here. The kids need a parent.

(Y/N): You're basically the kids' mother. They have you while I am gone. We've been through this before.

Nora: Yeah when you'd be gone for 2 days not two fucking weeks.

(Y/N): It will be ok. Trust me.

Nora: Really?! What if you get killed out there?

(Y/N): I won't.
