3rd Person POV (City hall, May 19th, 1984)

The dry heat of the late afternoon had long since faded as the night's cool gentle breeze crept into the tense city hall meeting room. It was packed with people so only standing room remained in order to weigh in on this controversial proposal at the table.

Board member: Absolutely not.

Mark Davis: Please sir, I believe you are letting the past cloud your judgment. I think you should reconsider.

Board member #2: Mr

Board member #2: Mr. Davis, are you saying that you don't think the death of a child at the very camp you are trying to get us to reopen is important?

Board member #5: Let's not also forget the murders and that the lake seems to be a dumping ground for dead bodies.

Mark Davis: The death of Jenny Voorhees in 1957 was a tragedy and so were the subsequent murders by her mother, however, that's in the past and we have learned from it. Please listen to me when I say we have taken every precaution and I have a talented group of young adults who I've been training all year.

Chairman: Is that true?

Mark: Yes, Mr. Chairman. In fact, I brought one of them along with me.

A young man who had just turned twenty stood up and joined Mark in front of the board.

Mark: This is (y/n) (l/n). He's one of the best counselors I've had the pleasure of training.

(Y/N): Mr. Chairman and members of the board I understand your worries as I've had them too.

There were shocked expressions on the board members' faces and chattering from the town's folk.

Chairman: Are you saying the camp shouldn't be opened?

(Y/N): No, I just said that I have the same fears which is why we all worked so hard in order to make sure nothing bad happens. We can't let our fears prevent us as people or as a community from moving forward.

Mark: Well said. I mean in all honesty people, how long are we going to let this keep us from moving forwards plus it will have many benefits for the city.

Board member #6: What benefits are there?

Mark: Money and tourism. I love your sleepy little city, however, we only survive on our own people. If we pull this off and market this right we can redefine ourselves as a summer lakefront gateway and summer camp for kids bringing plenty of people and money.
