Sewing was my passion. It was what I loved and in this disappointing ass world, it was the only thing that never failed to genuinely made me happy

Currently I was finishing up this dress I've been working on, on and off for a few weeks. I was a red, strapless, form fitting, silk dress with a thigh high split, and the top was gonna be covered in jewels and I was now working on that task. Although it was time consuming and a very hard task putting the heels in piece by piece, by hand, it was one of my favorite parts to do because I loved the challenge and I loved to see my hard work as a finished product

A knock on my door caught my attention while I stood in front of the dress still applying the jewels, only halfway done

"I don't wanna talk" I simply said, knowing it was probably McKenna

"Well too bad cause I do" I could hear my momma's voice say as she walked in my room. I looked back at her

"Oh, y'all back? How did y'all lil trip go?"

"You'll find that out in about 9 to 10 months"

"Momma.. Eww" I frowned up my face, going back to placing the jewels on the dress while she laughed, sitting on my bed

"Girl bye, we grown"

"Yeah and y'all too old to be having more kids"

"Keep on talkin like I don't have this in my hand" she held up a large envelope

"What is that?"

"Something from parsons, the school of design in New York"

I sat the stuff in my hands down and hurried over to her. She handed me the envelope with a smile on her face and I sat down beside her, opening it

Once I got the envelope open I quickly pulled the papers out and wasted no time reading the first page

Congratulations... that was all I really read before I jumped up excited , reading the rest of the paper

"So I'm guessing you got in?"

I nodded, cheesing from ear to ear

"I did"

"Congratulations babygirl!"

"Oh my God" I let out a breath of relief while falling down on the floor of my bedroom, laying on my back "thank you God!"

"I'm so happy for you, is this where you plan on going?"

"Yeah"

"Well now that you got in, it's time to get you prepared to go..... All the way to New York. Without me and your daddy"

I jokingly rolled my eyes, knowing how emotional my momma could get

"You better not start crying"

"I'm not gonna cry yet. But it's coming soon. I just hate seeing y'all growing up and leaving me"

"We just going away for school ma"

"That's how it start out. You forgot I went through this with your brother?"

"Well I mean shouldn't you be happy? You and daddy always talkin bout how y'all ready for us to go"

"That's just talk. Truth is no parent wants their child to go... I just had y'all yesterday. Your daddy was just dressing you up and you would be his little shadow. He couldn't move without you following behind him. And Kyran, always been in a world of his own until he felt like bullying you and Hendrix. And now y'all about to go off to school"
