Chapter 25

~Hermione’s POV~

The wedding was beautiful. Both Harry and Ginny were glowing with happiness, their smiles shining amongst everyone. The reception for the wedding was magnificent; it was set up in the Great Hall and the tables had been pushed to the sides, so there was plenty of space for the dance floor. Before everyone began to party, we listened to a few speeches, Ron, Harry’s best man, was last. He stood up awkwardly and his face went red as he saw the amount of eyes boring into him.

He coughed uncomfortably and began, “Well, hi everyone. I’m Harry’s best man, but not only that – Ginny is my sister. Which, yes, is weird, I know. At first I couldn’t get my head round it, seeing them two together, my best friend and my sister. It was awkward, well it still is.” He laughed, looking at the couple who were grinning at him, “I remember the day when we had just won the Quidditch Match in Sixth Year and Harry walked into the common room, I told him we had won, but he didn’t even seem to notice me, his eyes were locked on one person, and before I knew it, him and Ginny were snogging wildly. I was so shocked and confused, I never saw it coming. Maybe I was just blind to it, as Hermione constantly told me how obvious it was they liked each other.” He looked at me smiling, I grinned, remembering. “But now I think about it, Ginny was mad for Harry. I remember the first time she met him, he was in our kitchen and she ran downstairs, as soon as she saw Harry she froze and ran straight back up the stairs.” He gained laughs from everyone. “And, I remember Valentine’s Day in our second year.” He laughed out loud at the memory he was about to reveal.

“Don’t you dare, Ronald.” Ginny hissed menacingly. Ron just laughed.

“You are my sister, I have to embarrass you.” He giggled happily, Ginny scowled. By this time everyone was on the edge of their seat. “For Valentine’s Day, Ginny got Harry a singing dwarf.” Ginny blushed. “Do you remember how the song went Ginny?” He asked teasingly. Ginny shook her head sharply. “Don’t worry, because I did some searching and it seems I found the exact dwarf who sang the song and he remembers it, clear as day.” He teased her, as he giggled, he waved the dwarf to where he was standing. The dwarf was wearing golden wings and carrying a harp, just as Professor Lockhart had forced the dwarfs into in our second year.

The dwarf sung,

“His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad,

His hair is as dark as a blackboard,

I wish he was mine, he’s really divine,

The hero who conquered the Dark Lord.”

Everyone in the hall burst into hysterics and Ginny’s face flushed red, but even she was laughing. When everyone had settled down, wiping their eyes, Ron spoke, “Really Ginny, brilliant song writing.” He laughed and she scowled mockingly, but jokingly responded, “Well, it must have worked, he’s mine now isn’t he.” She grinned.

“True, but I really doubt your song had anything to do with that.” He grinned and then began addressing the audience again. “But I just thought all that was a childish crush and that Harry definitely didn’t share the same feelings. There was no indication of anything more than friendship between the two until sixth year, when I was proved completely wrong and they admitted how they felt, and therefore they thought it best to be practically glued together. And from then on they wouldn’t keep their hands off each other. It was nauseating. Every time I’d walk into a room, they’d be snogging each other’s faces off. And it still happens now, I’m actually surprised they’ve lasted through all these speeches without snogging each other.” He gestured to them. So in response they grinned and began passionately kissing, earning whistles and cheers from the crowd, they broke apart when Ron spoke again, “Thank you, I might have to throw up before I even eat anything.” He joked, but became serious again. “To be truthful I didn’t think, or I hoped, that it wouldn’t last very long between them, but here we are today and I genuinely couldn’t be happier for them.” Everyone applauded Ron, and Mrs Weasley was dabbing her eyes. “Oh and Potter, hurt Ginny, and you’ll pay.” He said, slightly menacingly and gave a cheeky grin before sitting down.
