The restaurant was busy, and considering I still managed to be 10 minutes late even without the Gigi detour, I had no doubt Luka was already inside waiting for me.

I smoothed down my hair and made my way up the stairs, where a formally dressed guy opened the door for me with a smile.

Oh so this is fancy, fancy huh?

I send him a smile in response and suddenly feel like I'm underdressed, patting down my beige pants and corset, making sure not too much boob is popping out.

I hadn't even realised I'd made it to the front desk when a voice snapped me out of my worry, "If you feel like you're underdressed, trust me, you look great."

I look up to see a boy around my age working the front of the restaurant. He smiles at me and I send him a tight-lipped smile back.

"Uh, thank you." I chuckle awkwardly and it was times like these that I needed my guard dog Gigi with me. "I'm meeting someone under the name Vasiliev." I inform him and he nods, looking over the schedule in front of him.

"Follow me." He says with a smile and I follow him into the restaurant, frowning when it turns out we don't have a table in the general area with everyone else, but rather in a private room, yet again.

The boy leads me to a door and gives me a quick wink before returning back into the restaurant. When his back was turned, I held up two middle fingers in his direction before turning and entering the room.

So mad at every man right now for some reason.

I push the door open and see all the fucking Beneventi's sitting at a table tensely with Luka.

Oh fuck no.

They did not fucking show up here.

I slam the door closed behind me and all their heads whip in my direction, though I don't even look at them, keeping my eyes trained on Luka.

I take a seat opposite him, not even giving any attention to the other men at the table.

Just break the contract, and leave with no confrontation.

"Where have you been?" Angelo's rough voice sounds out from the other end of the table.

Well, there goes that plan.

I don't break my eye contact with Luka, who seems confused at the tension between myself and the Beneventi's.

"None of your business." I reply back calmly, and I can practically feel the anger radiating off of him.

"It is my business when I'm your legal guardian Carlotta." He says back sharply, and at this I turn my head to look him in the eyes.

He seems to flinch back slightly at the eye-contact, and I notice the dark circles and stubble on his face.
