Borrowed Time;

          𝐂love's chest rises and falls in a steady rhythm, her breath chiming through soft snores. No concerns are pulling on the tips of her mouth, nor at the skin between her eyebrows.

Bellamy treasures the sight of her peaceful slumber- the frown doesn't suit her, anyway. She looks younger. Innocent and naive. A combination of characteristics that wouldn't last long in this world- not anymore.

"Hold your fire!"

His eyes shoot up in response to the commotion outside. He doesn't have to look back down at the girl to know she stirred at the sound too.

"What's going on?" she murmurs, scarcely able to push herself away from the warmth of the bed. A chill rakes through her body. It's colder now; the sun must've set hours ago. The t-shirt hangs loosely around her body, providing little to no comfort in terms of heat.

A yawn stretches across her face, forcing through a moan of exhaustion in the process. She must've slept for hours, and her body certainly needed the rest.

"Best guess would be Clarke's back," his voice trails off. The man moves towards the door, peeking around the empty halls surrounding them. He opens his mouth, but as the blonde appears so suddenly beside him, he unconsciously bites back the words on his tongue.

His words strike a nerve of excitement in her. She dashes through the doorway, soon engulfed by metal on all sides. Not until a hand sneaks around her wrist does she peek back at him. She raises an eyebrow in question, placing a hand over the one he has fastened around her arm.

She gives him a squeeze of reassurance. "You okay?"

"I want you to know," his tone is lowered, eyes warily reading her reaction. "Murphy's here."

Silence.

"John Murphy?" she steadily grits her teeth, muscles tensing in response. "After what he pulled back there?"

The torment swirls in her darkened eyes as she rips her wrist away from his grip. Her fists clench at her sides, warmth boiling in her chest. Except, it's not the kind she longed for minutes prior.

Bellamy's jaw tenses. He leans his face closer to hers. "Yes, and I need you to not lash out."

"Not lash out?" She holds his stare. "Have you forgotten that he attempted murder by tying a noose around your neck? That he forced me to watch while you hung helplessly from the ceiling? That he was gonna kill me too once you were dead?"

"Forgotten?" he whispers harshly, shoulders heaving in tension. Her tied-up body against the ladder. Blood rushing to her head. Tears flowing down her gagged face. "Forget it. They're just gonna lock you up. You're no good to anyone behind bars."
