Torture;

          𝐓imer. Plain, rugged timber. It keeps the small hut intact. The walls. The floor. The roof.

The roof. Those familiar, green eyes have spent the last hours tracing the many lines harassing the wood. It must be midnight by now, possibly only a few hours from sunset.

Clove wouldn't know. Her figure has been settled on the bed for hours, expression blank. She can't sleep. Won't allow herself to even rest her eyes. Hands are folded on her stomach, one finger tapping impatiently.

The only sign of distress.

Otherwise, her demeanor would seem pretty carefree. Relaxing on the bed, ankles crossed.

Yet, her mind is racing.

The only people she had left to care about, burned to the ground. One with the dust. It makes her ill, simply the thought of it. That all their days on Earth led to that. As if they were doomed to just vanish from the surface, with nothing to remember them by. As if they were never there in the first place.

Her jaw clenches and she swallows thickly.

The moment Clarke diverts her gaze away from the landscape, Clove casts her a cheeky grin.

She returns the smile, casually grasping the blonde's hand. They both move down the ramp and onto the actual ground. The dirty terrain feels extremely uncommon as it's soft underneath the girl's shoes. Such a difference from the solid flooring on the Ark.

Her breath gets caught in her throat.

They had been so relieved that the ground was survivable. They believed they had a chance at surviving. Faith; that's what they had. And that gave them the strength to go on. They had a reason to believe everything would work out. And it would, had it not been for certain circumstances.

Her fists scratch her scalp, tugging at her blonde locks.

"-Oh yeah?" Wells peers down at her with a teasing smirk, "'cause last time I checked, that's not how it went."

"No?"

"No, I recall you losing every single match we ever played. I also remember you cheating. A lot." He laughs at her offended expression, a hand placed on her heart for added effect.

"I did not. Once, I beat Clarke twice in a row," she claims proudly, earning a suspicious look from her friend. "You weren't there," she states hurriedly, already knowing he doesn't believe her.
