"Ouch," Pearl winced.
"Hmm, Pearl be careful," Jace helped her up. "What are you doing under the table?"
"I drop the necklace you gave me," she said and grabbed the necklace. She slipped it back on.
"Oh," Jace smiled and pulled her close. "Be careful, silly."
"Yeah," she giggled. "Lately you have been more exhausted. Those dreams of yours are becoming frequent. I'm worried about you."
"Don't worry, I'll be alright," Jace said. "Everything will be alright."
"Alright," she pulled away. "Anyways father wants to tell you something."
"I'll say no still," Jace said.
"It's not that," she chuckled. "It's something about the whole hostage thing."
"Okay," he wonders what so important about that. "Let's go now."
They walked out of the house. Well more like a cabin. Hand in hand, they walked through the woods. His thoughts took over again. How he wishes to see his family once again. But he can't, wouldn't be able to bear it. The guilt he felt was killing him. Because of him, Eleanor is blind. Is she still blind?
"Jace," he looked down. "We're here."
"Oh," he sighed.
"Jace," Jim walked over to them. "Now I needed to speak to you about something." They sat down. "When I was being held captive. I was forced to fight someone. A young wolf. And he had this smell."
"Dad, eww," Pearl said. "Why are you smelling other wolves for."
"Pearl, it's not like that," Jim said. Jace chuckled, Pearl can be so silly sometimes. "The smell just hit me, and it was yours."
"Mine?" Jace frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Your scent was on that boy," Jim said. "Not in a bad way. But it seems, that scent has been there forever. He had various scents on him. But yours stood out the most."
"I see," his scent on someone else's. "Who was this boy?"
"Hm, his name," Jim tap the armchair. "Oh right, Hades." Jace choked on his drink. "Are you alright?"
"Jace are you alright?" Pearl asked him.
"I'm fine," he said and got up. Hades. He said Hades. It can't be him, can it? "Did you ever see him inhuman?"
"Unfortunately not," Jim said. "Someday we'll meet again, I hope." Jace smiled. It must be Hades. If it is him, how the hell he get involved in that mess. So many questions. "Also, I'll be having a meeting soon, with another pack. The Alpha and his wife will be arriving in three days. I expect you to be here. As my daughter mate."
"I'll be there," Jace said. Can't afford to disappoint him. Nor, doesn't he want to disappoint Pearl.
"Good," Jim got up. "If you'll excuse me I have things to do." He nodded.
Jace sat back down and sighed. It's him. Pearl sat on his lap. He smiled and kissed her. "What's wrong?" She asked. "Your reaction to that name seemed off. Do you know him?" What can he do? Tell her? No, he can't.
"No," he said.
'She'll find out sooner or later,' his wolf Reed said.
'Rather she doesn't,' Jace said.
'If she finds out from someone else,' he said.'It will be worse.'
'I know,' Jace said. 'Leave it be. I'll think of something.'
