Chapter 2: moving in

"There goes John Jacob jingleheimer Schmidt!" Me and my sisters sang
"Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da"
"John Jacob jingleheimer Schmidt."
"His name is my name too!"
"Whenever we go out the people always shout! 'There goes John Jacob jingleheimer Schmidt!' "
"Here we are." My dad said, turning off the engine and opening the door.
"Wow, hear that?" My dad said looking around, taking in the scene.
"I don't hear anything..?" My mom said
"Exactly." He smiled
"Oh" my mom laughed.
"Okay. Guys, we are here!" My mom smiled
We laughed and smiled.
"Yay!" I exclaimed getting out of the back seat.
"Oh my god were in the middle of no where." Andrea rolled her eyes and slammed the car door.
"Are you so excited? Where's my yes?" My mom exclaimed.
"Yes!" we all yelled, except for Andrea of course.
"I'll race ya!"
"I'm so excited!"
"Come on, Sadie!"
"I get my own room."
"Are you kidding me?" Nancy exclaimed.
"No dibs on the rooms!" I yelled at April
"What?!" Christine yelled
"Do I get to pick my own room?" I heard Andrea say, walking slowly up the porch stairs.
"Or do I have no choice in that either." Andrea snarled
I just ignored her and ran up to the others.

I watched as the moving people carried in our couch as [ the zombies' "time of the season" ] played
I ran outside as I saw Nancy grab my box.
"That's my box." I said, brushing my red hair behind my shoulder
"That's my box." Nancy mocked me.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the box.
I ran inside ducking under the couch the moving people were carrying in
"Watch out!" I said running into the door and putting my box labeled
"Maxine room" on the stairs.
"I think Maxine has it." I heard Andrea say. I ignored her and went outside.
"Maxine do you have my wind chime?" Cindy asked
"Oh this one?" I asked taking it out of one of the moving boxes.
"Yeah, thanks." Cindy said reaching for it.
"You're gonna have to catch it." I smiled running away, putting it in the air.
"Maxine! Let it go! Give it here." Cindy complained
I lowered it down and gave it to her.
"You're so mean." She joked, turning around.
I smiled and rolled my eyes.
"Maxine, honey! Can you have April come in, it's gonna get dark soon." My mom called to me.
"Okay!" I said, putting my bed spread on a box.
"Come on, april! Mom wants us inside!" I yelled
"Look what I found, Maxine!" April yelled holding up a box looking thing.
I looked, nodded my head then went inside.

"One..two..three" Nancy and Cindy spun me around, a blind fold covering my eyes.
"No peeking!" Nancy yelled out.
"Four." I spun around counting
"Five."
"Six."
"Seven"
"Eight"
"Nine"
"Ten"
"Ready or not, here I come!" I yelled, walking out of the room I was in.
"Okay, clap!" I said
I heard a couple of claps that were closest to me, so I started to walk towards them, holding my hands out so I don't run into anything.
I tripped over a box while my mom was coming over
"Woah! Woah!" I said feeling around.
"Guys! You don't know the house well enough. Someone gonna get hurt." My mom scolded us.
"I'm Okay, I'm okay." I shooed her away softly
"Second clap." I said
This time I only heard one clap.
I turned around quickly to the sound.
I hesitated for a minute but then I started walking, running my hand around the wall.
I touched a door nob, I held onto the wall as I twisted it open.
"Clap." I said
I heard one clap and I ran towards the sound
"Got you!" I screamed.
"Aah!" Nancy screamed
There was a thud then I asked if she was ok.
"Uh, yeah." Nancy said
"All right, what did we break now?" My dad said.
I quickly took off the blind fold.
"I-I-I didn't mean too." Nancy said
"Move out of there please." My dad shoved Nancy aside and going into the closet.
"It was Maxine's fault." Nancy complained
"Ah jeez." My dad said
"My fault?" I argued
"Maxine did it!" Nancy yelled
"No I didn't, you did!" I said
"No, totally, you pushed me." Nancy said
"No, no, you fell back." I said
Christine, Cindy and Andrea stood behind us, trying to get a look of the damage.
"Hey Nancy, can you go get me the matches please?" My dad asked
Nancy nodded her head and turned around to get the matches.
"What's going on?" My mom asked coming down the stairs.
"Nancy broke something." I said
"Shut up!" Nancy said
"It was you!" I said
"What broke?" My mom asked
"It was the wall"
"Whoa." My mom said stepping into the closet.
"I think we have a cellar or something." My dad murmured, pulling on the wood.
"I wanna see! I wanna see!"
"Move, move, move!" April said
"Okay." Cindy said
"Here, matches. Thank you." My dad said as Nancy handed him the matches.
He lit one and put it into the dark area.
"Can you see?" my mom asked
"I wanna see too." Nancy said
"You can all see." My mom said.
"Move!" I said
"Roger? What do you see down there?" my mom asked
"Just, uh, hard to tell, you know?"its - - it's an old piano and a whole bunch of garbage." he responded
"Ah! Son of a -" my dad groaned
"Wow." He said
"Rog?" My mom said
Me and Nancy shared a look then back at the open hole in the wall.
"Come on up." My mom finally said.
My mom smiled at me then back at the footsteps pounding on the stairs.
"I don't want any of you girls going down there. That place is loaded with spiders." My dad said.
"Ew!" Christine quickly moved
"Just relax." My mom smiled as Christine continued to gag.
"Stop it Nancy it's not funny." Christine said as we all walked up the stairs.
"Five more minutes!" April asked
"No more minutes. Up to bed." My mom urged us
