Chapter 5: Rory

3rd person POV:

"Those bruises..they from somethin' that happened here?" Ed asked the two couple as the women poured tea into a mug.
"Oh, it's from some iron deficiency thing I have." The women responded
"You know, with all that's been going on, why haven't you just moved out?" Ed asked
"Well, I don't know where we'd move to, you know? We got all our money tied up in this place and had a lot of repairs on top of that. And I don't know anybody who's gonna take in a family of 8 indefinitely." Roger said
"That's why we tracked you down." Carolyn said
"We're glad you found us...all right. Let's get started." Ed said
"My name is Ed Warren. It's November 1st, 1971. I'm sitting here with Carolyn Perron, who- with her family, has been experiencing supernatural occurrences. Okay go ahead." Ed spoke into a microphone
"Where do I start?" Carolyn asked
"From the first occurrence." Ed responded
"I guess it was the clocks." Carolyn said.

Lorraine's POV:
"Mom and dad tell me that you have a friend." I said to April, one of the many daughters the perrons have.
"His name is Rory. He lives here too." She said
"But he's always sad."
"Why is that?" I asked, interrupting her sentence.
"He won't tell me." April said
"But I think something bad happened to him."
"Do you mind if I try to see Rory?" I hesitated.
She carefully gave me a sorta circusy box. I grabbed it. It was very dirty. Looked about from the 30's at the most. I opened it, there was a mirror with white paint making a swirl.
I turned the key and it started to play music. A clown popped up half way as I continued to stare into the mirror a little boy showed up in the background. Very pale skin, dark under eyes, a black suit with a white tie going around his body and a brown bowl cut. The mirror turned again and he was gone. I slowly turned my head back but he wasn't there.

3rd person POV:
"We bought it at an auction from the bank." Roger said
"So you know, we never knew who lived here."
"Well Lorraine and I both feel uh..that what you house needs is a cleansing. An exorcism." Ed said
"What, exorcism?" Roger asked
Looks we're passed around the room.
"I thought that was - - I thought that was something that you do to people." Roger said
"No, not necessarily, no." Lorraine said
"We have to get outta here." Carolyn said
"I'm afraid that not gonna help. Lorraine saw something, which— go ahead, hon." Ed said
"I've been seeing the dark entity, that haunts your house and your land. I saw it first when I came through your door. It was latched to your back. And then I saw it again with the girls, when we walked into the living room. And it doesn't matter where you go, this dark entity has latched itself to your family and it's feeding off of you." Lorraine said
"Even if we leave?" Carolyn asked
"Sometimes when you get haunted, it's like stepping in gum. You take it with you." Ed said
"Look, I gotta tell you, you have a-lot Of spirts in here. But this is the one that I'm most worried about because it is so hateful." Lorraine said
"Okay, do what do we do? Can we call a priest?" Roger asked
"I wish it were that easy. Performing an exorcism is an archaic procedure. Requires years of training. And even then, I have seen it go horribly wrong. But before we even get that far, the church has to authorize it first. Means we gotta investigate, gather evidence, and provide proof. And that's the hard part." Ed said

"Have your children been baptized?" Ed asked
"Uh, no, we never got around to that. We're not really a church-going family." Roger said
"Well, you may want to rethink that. Our presence here could make things worse." Ed said
"Why?" Carolyn asked
"Because we're a threat. And whatever you're dealing with here isn't gonna like us. So far it hasn't done anything violent, and that's a good sign. So we're gonna have our guys do some homework on the property, though, to see what we're up against." Ed finished.
