Fingers danced up and down Robyn's arms. A hand gently played with her tousled blonde hair. A softly breathing chest rose and fell underneath her tear-stained cheek. Robyn felt all of these things, but she was still numb. That night, Robyn had heard Remus' footsteps outside of her dorm room door, pausing, clearly unsure of what to say to her when he entered. Truthfully, Remus needn't have said anything because Robyn knew as soon as he walked up the stairs. Lucy was dead.

Lucy Raven Morrow had spent her life preserving the lives of others. Not only with her work as a healer. She had been a mother to Robyn, the necessary calm in Tornado Tim. She had helped Robyn with everything from periods to boys to magic. Martha was Robyn's biological mother, but who she was as a person, her unrelenting kindness, her strong sense of loyalty, the light that lived in Robyn's heart; that was all accredited to Lucy.

Lucy Morrow lived a life of philanthropy and selflessness. She constantly gave her time and efforts with only the wellbeing of others in mind. And she should have lived a much longer life.

"Tell me more about her," Remus' whispered breath caressed her forehead and Robyn closed her eyes. She wanted to preserve Lucy's memory. She wanted to shout from the rooftops that her aunt was the most amazing woman that ever lived. But she didn't want to do her a disservice by getting the words stuck in her throat. Lucy deserved more than choked up, half-arsed words about her good heart. She deserved songs and poems written about how just her hands could heal the deepest wounds. She deserved a day every year where people would pick blue flowers for her eyes and pink for her cheeks. Lucy Morrow deserved everything and yet she was murdered by her brother, her own blood, in seconds.

"She was warm like home and cool like a spring evening." Robyn's voice was hoarse and scratched at her throat but she didn't care. "She had arms that could pick you and all your worries up and cradle you, like a haven. She had a calmness to her that flowed through you like a creek in a forest. She was the colour blue. She was the sea and the sky. She was the world...she- she was everything."

And now she's nothing. Nowhere. No one.

"It's my fault."

"No it isn't, Robyn. I promise."

She didn't believe him. Voldemort wouldn't have known who Lucy was if he didn't know of a legilimens in the Order. He wouldn't have ordered Greyback to capture her and Tim. Her dad would still be painting and laughing, not the shell of a man he is now, boxed up in a safehouse like an antique gathering dust. Lucy would be healing and working and smiling and walking and talking and breathing and living.

Robyn didn't even know where she was left. Remus had to grab her dad and disappear. She was probably still on the forest floor, her neck at angle, fear permanently painted on her face. More tears fell and Robyn was surprised she had any moisture left in her body at all. Or sound from screaming. Or life. It was a testament to Lucy she supposed. If her life meant nothing to anyone, neither would her death. But it did. She had left two people, utterly helpless, clinging to whatever dredges of love they could. Robyn clung to Remus. Tim clung to...no one. He was alone.

"I want to see my dad."

"Robyn-"

"I can't leave Hogwarts."

"Dumbledore's orders."

Fuck Dumbledore.

"I can stay here though, as long as you need, Ro."

The sole light in the seemingly endless darkness of grief: Remus Lupin. A shoulder to cry on, a woolly jumper to cling to, a supplier of all the chocolate anyone would need. Robyn held him that bit tighter. She would be damned if the same fate befell Remus. Or her Dad. Or anyone for that matter. Robyn was done with being the Order's 'possible' weapon. She was going to get into the one mind that could stop everything: all the deaths and torture. She was going to do whatever she could to stop this fucking war.

—---

Two weeks had passed since Lucy's death. Robyn had managed to get out of bed, but only to see Remus off. He had to return to do work for the Order but not before he made it very clear that the duty of taking care of Robyn's every need was befalling Ara and Rory. He made a list of these every needs.

"What if I run out of chocolate?"

"I have included a list of all of my hiding places, it will literally last years."

"That's grim."

"I charmed it."

"Better."

Robyn tried not to cry when she hugged him goodbye but she couldn't help but thinking it could be the last time she saw him. That was how she planned on going about her life: treat every interaction with someone as though it's your last. Morbid but realistic. This philosophy was going to become even more useful when she began to join her closest friends in Order missions but she thought she would save Remus the stress and turmoil of telling him this. Especially a fortnight after he witnessed her aunt being murdered.

"I love you, Lovebird. More than life itself."

"I love you, Moonboy."

"I'll see you soon."

And with that, Robyn's heart cracked as yet another person she loved vanished from her sight. Rory and Ara's arms went around her shoulders.

"Merry Christmas, Robyn."

"Merry Christmas."
