When Eden calls Drea Drea Aunt  the first time it is the best and the worst day for Drea, and the detective  struggles  with her growing  fondness towards her friend and the child.  Happens before Christmas  In A Different Perspective

Thanks maudie99o for being my co writer on this story💖

Drea sighs quietly  sitting on her bed with Nala lying  close beside her. It was early morning  before even Georgie  was up. It was early and she could already tell today was not a good day. She glanced at her calendar  and saw why.

January 13th… today would  have been her youngest sister's seijinshiki or her coming of age party. It was a great event, granted Drea pretty  much  hated hers,  but it meant you were finally an adult  after the ceremony  and it was the biggest celebration of their life. Her sister never would  see adulthood, never would  get to wear a fancy kimono as she enjoyed her seijinshiki, and it was because  Drea hadn't  reacted in time.

Drea just sighs, shoving  those thoughts  down as she gets up. She might as well do something  to help this morning and although  she wasn't the best cook she could  still make things.

She looks in the refrigerator  grabbing  some eggs and deciding to make them her own way today as she goes back to her room grabbing  one of her old pans she hadn't  used since she started living with Georgie, and started cooking.

……..

Drea heard a noise from another room allowing  herself to turn around  and listen  for another moment.  It sounded like… crying… Drea takes the food  off the stove and moves quickly, following the noise to Eden's  room and opening the door quietly.

"Eden what's  wrong?" Drea asks quietly  sitting on the town size bed gently  Eden just looks at her for a moment  before  quickly moving to Drea  crawling  into her lap. Drea just tries not to tense up at weight in her lap

"Auntie Georgie  is gonna die! Aunty Georgie is gonna die!  Eden cries out as Drea sighs she probably had the dream about the alternate  reality.  She then hugs Eden  closer to her and snuggles as close as she can.

"Shh, it's  okay lil girl  that will never happen. I won't let it happen.  I promise." Drea promised  although  she didn't  know if she would be able to keep  it. Especially since she was feeling  down today anyway.

"Auntie Drea I no wan you or Georgie  to die. You my family  , I love you! No can lose you." Eden rambles and Drea just looks at the child in shock did she just call her aunt. Drea felt happy, but worried at the same time. She was scared last time she let someone  this close they got killed.

"It's  okay, everything  will be fine." Drea reassures as she sighs getting  comfortable. After a little bit Eden  falls back asleep  and Drea heads back to the kitchen to finish cooking.

……..
"Good morning  D, what smells so good." Georgie  asks curiously  as she wakes up half an hour later. Drea didn't  reply, stuck in her own mind as she cooked the omelet, sometimes seasoning it with a bit of spices. "D?" Georgie  questions  louder as Drea quickly  snaps her head back.

"Oh um… sorry I was just um… absorbed in cooking. " Drea stutters out as Georgie  gives her a confused look  as Drea wasn't like this. She was always  confident  in her replies and never stuttered. Her voice also sounded more breathy than usual as if she had been crying.

"Drea are you okay?" Georgie  asks as Drea tenses up and just nods. Putting the omelet  she had made on a plate and handing it to Georgie  as she grabs hers from the microwave. She would make Eden one a little later as the girl slept longer than noth adults combined at this point since the two adults barely  ever sleep.

"I'm  fine, just tired but I shouldn't  be  complaining," ' Drea says, using  her fork to poke some of the egg and eat it. It tasted just like how her mother used to make it. And it tasted  very good mainly  because  she hadn't  had it in forever.

"Okay… oh wow Drea this omelet tastes amazing." Georgie  says, causing Drea to smile slightly as she finishes up hers and heads  to clean the plates and start another one for Eden.

That's  when Georgie  got a phone call. "It's  Ben, I've  got to  take this" she announced  to Drea who nodded as she started Eden's  omelet. Once Georgie  was done she came back with the gun and hair up.

"Ben had a calling  and Olive is in school right now. Would you mind watching  Eden for a bit?" Georgie  asks as Drea nods she really didn't  like being left alone with a child especially one that she was beginning to love , but it sounds like she didn't  have much of a choice.

"I don't  mind at all."

……….

Aunt Drea, where's  Aunt Georgie?" Eden questions  tiredly  as she sits at her place at the table. Drea just smiles, getting  used to the idea of being  an aunt. Nala just wags her tail as she knows Drea's full story, and she was glad that Drea was letting  down her very tough walls slowly,  and feeling more at home.

"She's  out on a mission, but she'll  be okay kid. Hey, what do you say to watch  that new Spirit movie?" Drea asks as Eden looks at her and slowly  nods. Drea just grabs her phone and hooks it up to the TV.  As Eden  finishes  up her food and runs over excitedly  flopping  on the couch  as Drea sat down with her.

As the movie went on Eden  slowly  leant closer to Drea  until she was on her lap again. This time Drea didn't  complain or tense up although  she was still quite a bit uncomfortable  with  all this. People she loved were always in danger and Eden  was already  in danger; she couldn't  make it more dangerous

……....

Georgie  came out  about three-fourths  a way through  the movie and smiled; it had been a rough case, but seeing  her niece and partner watching  a movie immediately  brightened her and Mira up.

"Hey guys, I'm  back." Georgie  says as Drea Drea looks  up from  the movie and gently pets Nala.  Eden didn't  even glance at Georgie, too absorbed in the movie. Causing  both adults to chuckle quietly as Georgie  sat on the other couch.

Drea just sighs looking  at the child sitting  in her lap. And then to Nala who nods looking   at the girl. She then heard a voice. "Let it go sis, they need you, all of you" Drea  didn't  know if that counted as a calling  or if she was going  crazy, but either way she understood  what it meant.

Georgie  needed her. Eden, her niece, needed her. She couldn't  be afraid anymore; she couldn't  dwell on what happened.  Because  Frea would never let it happen again.
