Merciful Death

The waves roll across the water colliding with the light of the sun,
A ship cast out at sea,
The reaper comes for me,
Look up the seagulls swaying,
The body limp to it's exhaustion.

Adrift in this ocean,
Starved,
Skin pulverized by the glow,
Burned and Broken,
Calloused hands blistering,
No life to be found.

Is this it,
The end of it all,
Alone on this day,
Castaway,
Lungs filled with salt,
Dying.

A strange tugging at the chest,
Relief washes through,
A carcass below,
What else could you do,
Acceptance came before it all happened,
Death is now the only passage.
