My husband called me earlier to share some news from Riku—our grandchild Mimi has finally chosen a house to buy.

And now, my husband’s in Italy, shopping for furniture at Annibale Colombo for Mimi’s new place.

Actually, he’s not just stopping there.

He’s visiting Poltrona Frau, B&B, Minotti, Flexform, Boffi Sicis, Visionnaire, Paolo Castelli, Provasi, Giorgio Collection, and more—all to buy the most luxurious and beautiful pieces for Mimi’s house.

Even though Mimi was perfectly fine with something modest and affordable. We all know Mimi isn’t the type to care about money or fancy things, so... my husband’s enthusiasm is a bit over the top.

Sigh...

It's been two days since my husband called, and now Mimi is leaving my house to move into his own home.

Though I’m sad and want to stop him, I know I can’t. Mimi doesn’t want to worry us and doesn’t want to be a burden, even though he never has been.

“Mimi, can’t you stay a little longer?” I asked, my voice heavy with sadness.

Mimi smiled gently and kissed my cheek. “I want to, Grandma, but you know all of my cousins are here in the mansion, and I need to focus on school too,” he said, glancing at his siblings and cousins.

“Grandma, don’t worry. We’ll visit whenever we can,” my grandson Nakuri added, also kissing my cheek.

“......” I couldn’t bring myself to say anything.

“Promise?” I asked, feeling a bit childish, but who cares? Two of my grandchildren were leaving, and I’d only see them occasionally from now on.

The two exchanged a look before responding in unison. “Grandma, we love you, so we promise!”

Their words and hugs brought me some comfort and happiness. “I love you too, my grandsons. Well, it seems the car is ready,” I said, as all of my grandchildren gathered to say their goodbyes, especially Yui and Itsuke.

“I promise I’ll visit you, Mimi!” Yui said, hugging her brother tightly, with Itsuke doing the same.

“Okay,” Mimi replied.
